I'm not sure what type of treats you're giving him but maybe get a higher quality treat such as a freeze dried chicken which is better than say something like high carb, low quality Temptations.

I just wanted to add, the kitten I would be getting is a Scottish Fold, they are known to be adaptable and easy going with other pets and people. Which is why I chose that breed.
