No. It's normal. There is always a pecking order in a multi cat household with one being the alpha. It's very common for a female to be alpha. My Lilith is alpha in our house. She's also the smallest of our 3 cats. She'll "allow" the others on the bed but she has to be closest to me or they will get hissed at, slapped or both.
Lol! That's the same situation here! If Anubis refuses to give something up he gets yelled (hissed) at. But I don't get it though. If princess is the alpha the how come Anubis likes to mess with her (bopping her head, pouncing on her, chasing her)? Usually when he does this she hisses and gives a "warning" (she raises her paw at him but doesn't swat unless he keeps picking on her). Is it because he's still a baby (7 months old) so he's still in his kitten stages? I never see him actually trying to fight, it's more like play because he chirps whenever he's playing.

He's just playing. That's normal too. Sophie is Lilith's sister and while she knows who is queen of the castle, she gives her sass back when she thinks she needs to. Henry doesn't which is why he tends to get bossed around more than Sophie does

Lallorona,
Great idea, lol, ( already have one like that). I keep fur bits from all my babies in a cute title box on said alter. They are always with me that way, plus a few " lockets" with kitty fur inside. I always have one with me, silly as it may sound. It's a comfort to have them. I really hope they aren't causing my allergy problems!

I agree with Kat0121, the behaviour is normal, esp when you have a young male and older female.  As long as one of the cats isn't harrassing the other to the point they feel unsafe using their litter or feeding it is fine.  It is one of those things that goes on mostly unnoticed but is just as natural as it is for humans and probably every other animal living in company or as a group.   It sounds like Anubis is holding his own.
You should have seen Mouse's fur mom paste him on to his back and pin him down when she wanted to show him who was boss!

Henry is more than twice Lily's age and twice her size yet he's never tried to dispute her place as queen. I think he finds her amusing. He's also very laid back. She expects to get first pick of the (identical) food dishes and if one of them dares to try to eat before she has chosen hers, it's the same thing. They will get hissed at, slapped or both. She's a true diva

Guess who got new cat accessories?? & they better play nice and share lol a relatives cat ran away so she gave me the scratching post, a little house, toys, and this one weird ball thing that Anubis is currently playing with. While I appreciate it, I still feel sorry for their cat who ran away. I hope he/she returns safely. My aunt is one of those "it's just a cat" people, but being a cat mama of 2 I would go crazy if either of my cats go missing. I wouldn't even give away their toys because I would probably cling on to hope that they'll return.

My 8 year old cat was stolen 6 months ago and I still get upset daily. I have his food bowl and bought an identical collar to the one he was wearing and ive kept them. My husband thinks I'm a loony but I miss him so much that these feel like all I have left of him

I am so sorry to hear that! I can't imagine anyone taking MY babies. It makes me boil!! I hope your babes returns safely and unharmed. If a small thing is your source of comfort there is no shame in it. Whenever I go out of town I take my female cats purple collar with me (my boy does not have one yet) because I feel like it's the closest I can feel her with me. I don't care what anyone says or how "ridiculous" we sound when we try to remember our kitties, let us grieve our way. Sending positive vibes torwards you and hope the best.

I'd be a complete mess if Mouse or any other cat I lived with went missing.  No shame there, I think most people here on TCS would feel the same.    First you want your cat family back with you, and if that isn't happening you have a 'need' inside you to know they are safe:  the unknown is almost worse than anything else.   @lallorona  There's always the chance that your relatives found it hard to have the cat's things around reminding them too, though from what you say maybe it was just about space - but offering them to someone they knew would appreciate them was kind.   Anubis looks like he's a circuit toy fan.  Mouse has a similar one and has played with it consistently since I got it for him over 4 years ago.   He likes it best when I put it half way in to a large paper bag so the ball disappears and then comes back out again.  It adds to the chase.
He also likes it if I join in and pat the ball about and change the direction with him, but thankfully he does play with this game on his own (unlike most of his other things).   Enjoy watching Anubis with all his new 'stuff'.

He and princess fought over the little "house". He kept picking on her until she got out and he went inside after that. but he was only there for a good 10 minutes. Didn't even sleep in there I don't know why he wants to fight over it!! Lol
Princess seems less interested in the toy(s). She's the type that plays with anything that is plastic that makes noise, & Anubis plays with almost anything that moves. I have found him even playing with a grain of rice (literally). As soon as we showed them the toys Anubis was the first to try them out, while princess only smelled around, explored the scratching post, and went inside the little house. This first thing Anubis did this morning is wake us up with that ball that goes around in circles. I never thought cats could have distinct personalities. Princess is rather calm, and shy around strangers. She hides when she hears an unfamiliar voice or sees people she's not familiar with. Anubis on the other hand is crazy! He's a little more social. And does not mind having strangers over. He doesn't hide (unless children are present).

This picture was taken this morning. Princess was inside the little house, and fat boy was trying out the top of the scratching post. His face here is so cute. He looks like he has a double chin :lol3:

Thank you for posting these photos of beautiful Anubis and Princess!!!!  I am glad to see Anubis enjoying his circular toy and being so cozy on top of the scratcher!  My little Speedy has one of these circular toys, but she never chases the ball.  HOWEVER, the toy lights up and chirps a little when you pounce on it (what will they think of next)
so when she runs around the house she will purposely bump into it to make it light up.  I think if she could see the ball, like Anubis can, she would play with it.  @lallorona  you have done so much for Anubis, he has such a fun, safe, wonderful home with you and Princess!

@lallorona  That latest photo of Anubis is hilarious:   he looks SO serious and grumpy sitting on top of that scratching den, and just look at those little rolls of extra skin and fur!

He's not fat, he is a growing young cat-man and no doubt plans to fill up those little rolls of extra skin and fur very soon (Mouse has these too - I swear he's some distant relative of a flying squirrel).  Anubis must be respected, nay, worshiped as the young prince that he is.

Heheheh, I remember many a morning being woken up by the sound of Mouse whacking the ball around his little circuit toy when he was a kitten.  It was great though because it meant he was happy playing away on his own and wasn't wanting me to get up to help entertain him.  Happy Anubis playing away - how lovely.

Iallorona, I read this entire thread a few nights ago and haven't been able to get it off my mind. You've done an incredible thing nursing that dying kitten into robust health. Anubis is a beautiful cat, and he would have died if you hadn't taken care of him 24/7 for so long. You are one wonderful, caring person.

Welp, guess who got a new and bigger litter box because he got too big for the one he already had. [emoji]128530[/emoji]

Seriously, this is the 3rd litter box! I bought him a second thinking it will do since it is the exact same one my other older cat has but Anubis grew out of that one too! Hopefully he doesn't outgrow this one!

Anubis is growing in to a good size healthy cat and requires a suitably large and prestigious throne.
He was so teeny when you brought him home it must feel really weird to see him growing in to such a fine, big adult cat.

Does he like / have a covered box?   Mouse likes his covered box but it is a nice high one which I can't get any more, it's a Booda roundabout and the one they have now isn't as high.
The round shape works well for his body length and and being able to dig and turn around as much as he likes without the base being so huge it would need a tonne of litter, and the height works well for his arched back and long tail.   I did get a replacement large rectangular tray but have never put it in to use as decided that the height and length he needed put together with the flat base was going to take so much litter it would bankrupt me!   I'm thinking of maybe using a cement mixing tub or large bin with access hole cut in it when I do have to replace the tray Mouse has now.

He has an uncovered box. I've looked in to covered boxes but they were a little expensive and I'm not earning enough money at the moment. I make enough for their food and litter, thank god. Lol he was so tiny when he used his first littler box. I was SURE he wouldn't need another one. Boy was I wrong, I bought him another one, the exact same one my princess has and I was SURE he wouldn't need another one then. Not even a month and he didn't fit anymore! The space was so small, 2 poops would fill the box :lol2:. So I had to get him another ones hopefully he doesn't outgrow it! Anubis, stop draining me money!! Lol

I suspect Anubis will be draining you of money for life @lallorona.  Young Anubis may find that only the largest and pure gold litter tray with sole Anubis access is fitting for a cat-king like him - though platinum would probably suit his fur better.
Blue cats seem to 'know' that their human servants will pander to their every need - and only the best litter trays will do.
If you do find he's struggling to fit his butt in to the required area with this new tray you might find that one with very high sides would help....  even if it isn't the solid gold he knows he deserves.

Yes. Thankfully he isn't picky. The first thing he did when I poured clean litter in it is poop :lol3:
