I hate acrylic yarn period, although i don;t trust the chemicals.. I use cotton at times, but Mercerized cotton that doesn't leave residue everywhere . Cascade Pima Ultra is a fave for me. Also I use wool and superwash wool. I like the cascade line.
Cats like ALL stringy stuff. The important thing I am finding is to just make sure your cat is with you when using yarn. I NEVER leave yarn or yarn balls around for the cats to get ahold of and choke or ingest. If they ingest non toxic fibers I imagine they eventually will get coughed up like furballs..but why risk it?
If making stuff for cats, toys or sweaters, best suggested is Red heart Super Saver, but I hate knitting with it because of the roughness.
