It’s been quite an interesting few days for us. My husband got a bad cold, but initially we weren’t sure if it was Covid. He also has a bad rotator cuff that was super painful so I quarantined on the couch for the last 5 nights. He’s finally over his cold just in time for our anatomy ultrasound!

Turns out our baby is measuring perfectly on track, is healthy and is a girl! So excited!

My parents are coming to visit Wed so we are going to wait to tell them in person.

And to top it all off I’m back to sleeping in my cozy bed tonight! :dizzycat:

strider rose strider rose I have talked to others over my time here who felt that someone did not accept them, misunderstood them, snubbed them Etc. Please don’t let that make you feel you don’t know where you belong. You definitely belong here. This is a place filled with many wonderful people and we all share the love of kitties. You have plenty of people here who think you DO belong! Know it! You do belong even if there are bumps along the way, this path is wide enough for us all to share and there will be many you find who will help you over the humps. M maggiedemi is right. You fit in at Chez catbird from the start. Can’t you hear it? Someone there is always Whistling your name! :runningcat:Running to answer!

Congrats KarenKat KarenKat ! You'll have so much fun! (I mean, you would if you were having a boy, too, honestly) Wait until she's here and you see your husband totally in love with her and interacting. It melts my heart every time.

And most importantly that she looks healthy and growing well! :hearthrob::hearthrob::hearthrob::hearthrob::hearthrob:

Thanks everyone! We both would have been happy with either gender but being able to think of her(!) now makes everything so much more real.

Also yes, girl clothes are so fun!
Sometimes I think it would have been nice to find out during pregnancy, so I could have thought of her by name, but I also really loved being surprised. I told my husband I kind of wanted to do it again, but I think since we did a surprise with J, and he'd wanted to find out, we may need to find out with the next one.

I was talking to a woman that had three kids - she was surprised by the first two and decided to find out for the last one. I asked her what she preferred and she said she liked being surprised since there isn’t much else to be surprised of in pregnancy. Thought that was interesting.

I liked the idea of knowing, I’m pretty practical and like the idea of trying to plan more. Although they did say it was probably 90% accurate so there is always a chance we still get surprised ...

There aren't many surprises in life where all options are good! And finding out after going through the birth when all the emotions were intense was such a high, but I totally see the practical side, too. We had a gender neutral going home outfit and I felt a little pang I didn't have something girly with a bow.

But it was also nice not having people put gendered expectations on her before birth either.

Idk, pros and cons either way, I think!

Ha, my co-worker's daughter had 2 girls. . .pregnant again, ultrasound showed another girl! They thought! Through the whole pregnancy that's what they said. He was born and it was a huge surprise all around, they had to send someone out to buy "boy clothes" for his hospital pictures (don't get me started, but that's how they did it). So, yeah, it's not 100%, lol.

I've been busy. Yesterday, I bought a bunch of dirt and fertilizer and filled a garden box. Planted green beans and tomatoes.

Today, I got my 2nd covid shot then came home and ripped out all the grass and weeds from the flower beds in front of my house. Left the lilies, threw in some more dirt and fertilizer, then threw in 3 packets of random wildflower seeds. Aedan helped. FB_IMG_1621913277334.jpg I wish I'd taken a before picture, but it looks pretty good now. We'll see how it looks when the flowers come in.

I would like to get another garden box and plant some watermelons. We'll see.

I locked my husband in the garage this evening. I swear it was an accident. Really.

We usually have about 20 minutes of chores after dinner before we watch about an hour or so of tv. I brush my teeth, scoop the boxes, give the girls fresh water, and so on. And I lock the door to the garage. I kept hearing someone knock on the door, but when I went to the front door, no one was there. How annoying, I thought. After the third time, I walked out onto the driveway. No one. Grrr.

I turned around to come back inside and saw that the light was on in the garage (we have windows in the garage doors). Huh. I came inside, opened the door to the garage, and my husband was standing there. “I thought I was going to have to sleep in the car,” he said. Pitiful.

Tobermory Tobermory , perhaps an alarm or intercom for the garage? I have a motion detector that plays a little melody in the house if it senses movement In the garage. A little riskier but you could also have a key hidden in there somewhere. I keep a door lockbox in a cupboard that holds a spare key in case I lock myself out of the house.

Thank you for the ideas! He could have opened the garage door, walked around to the front door, and rung the doorbell. And if all else fails, we live in a large retirement community and the security staff can open residents’ front doors. :)
