Yes, the store selection is getting pretty good as are thrift stores. The puzzle aisle is looking well stocked again so I quickly took a peek while looking for a birthday gift. I have a bunch to work on already but I thought there might be something with less pieces for a good price. I didn’t buy anything though. I’ll keep looking. Sometimes it’s hard to start a project I know I can’t get lost in for a while. Then my best friend posted pictures of 2 1,000 piece ones she got done in a week. While working as a single mom and raising kids. So now I just feel lazy.
You *didn't* look at the spoiler, and could still tell it looks difficult. That makes me feel a bit better about how quickly I became discouraged.
What did you think? Difficult? Or am I a quitter.I looked at the spoiler. It's not my puzzle so it's not cheating.
Lots of the similar colours will do that to me..You *didn't* look at the spoiler, and could still tell it looks difficult. That makes me feel a bit better about how quickly I became discouraged.
I think everyone has their way, but I choose bits that are obviously together.. one group of colour/texture that looks right, and put it together. Then do it again until all you're left with are the really hard bits At least then you have less pieces to choose from.Yes, if it were 1000 pieces, it would be hopeless. Any tips on how to tackle it, other than starting with the edges.
You'll get there. I've put puzzles that I thought were too hard aside and then made myself do them.. there's a real sense of achievement. One had a huge, all solid black cat in the centre. I just worked the edges of her shape and then relied on the shape of the pieces to fill her in. I don't know whether you use shape as a tool, but it's a good one, unless it's one of those puzzles that only has a tiny selection of shapes. I avoid them.I did separate all the similar colour pieces into the ziplock bags. So I'll try to work on colours first. Surely once I get going, it'll be better. I just wan't expecting a 500 piece puzzle to be so difficult.
Oh, that sounds so cool. Is it pictured in this thread? One had a huge, all solid black cat in the centre.
Here's a pic of a few of the pieces from one group I've sorted by colour. They're small - only about 1 inch. And I found I couldn't even tell when they fit together correctly. Course that could just mean I need new glasses!I don't know whether you use shape as a tool, but it's a good one, unless it's one of those puzzles that only has a tiny selection of shapes. I avoid them.
