so far...

I love that she pills herself since I started wrapping the half pill in just enough food for the yeast to stick to the pill and the fish flake to stick to the yeast. She takes each half without any spitting out or flinging issues like when I tried to make the yeast bites out of her raw.

Also, her New Jersey case is finally shipping! I ordered that at the beginning of the month. It should arrive next Friday. Or the beginning of next month.

Well, we had a good two days without the bonuses and poop pukes.

She had a really impressive first poop. Then while I was cooking breakfast (of course!), she emerged from under the bookcase and put a soft but still well-formed round two in a box. But that was enough. Up came second breakfast.

And then while I was cleaning the box, she got out a toothpaste squeeze onto the carpet. That actually came up so easily, I just sprayed the spot with the enzyme cleaner. I may get my nose down there later looking for it for a more thorough clean.

My first breakfast went on the trivet on the warm burner while I cleaned up her second breakfast off the carpet. And then plated her third breakfast. I guess we're opening a burner can today for that 3 pm meal we'll come up short now. Good thing the New Jersey case is finally coming next week.

For better or worse, tomorrow is another chemo day. I'm re-using Wednesday's gloves because those were the last of the box. The new box is supposedly coming Monday, but I see no messages about its travel progress. Then again, I've seen Amazon pull a shipment out of thin air from "shipped" to "delivered" in the same day.

I'm tired of this gloves shortage. The thing I wish people would understand, especially cashiers, about gloves is that the minute they touch a "dirty" surface (anything they haven't just disinfected e.g. their phone, the conveyor, anything the customer has touched, etc), those gloves are contaminated and they're just spreading that contamination around. Human skin has anti-microbial factors from beneficial bacteria to the immune system. Neoprene or latex is just gross collectors of microbes. Unless you are going to be diligent about cross-contamination and changing your gloves, you're better off not wearing them. I feel less assured when I see a worker wearing gloves. "You keep that receipt."

Yeah, our posts kind of crossed. Setbacks are part of life, I guess.
And I had the same thoughts about gloves, once I thought about it.

3am I wake up to pee. “Oh look at that polite mostly buried and not even announcing its aroma!” I suppose she deposited it while I was dead to the world sometime between midnight and 3am.

One and done! Which is really good. Because I don’t know that I would have woke for anything less than the sound of her barfing. I used to wake to the slightest litter box sounds.

Good thing she isn’t blowing out anymore. I’ve been sleeping so hard that the artificial sunrise that used to wake me isn’t anymore. Krista had to sing her feed me song for who knows how long before I finally woke this morning. I’m thinking she was maybe a verse away from the feed me dance across my chest.

Today was a chemo day. I am having to wash and reuse the last pair of gloves I have. After reading the reviews for the gloves I’m expecting tomorrow, I have no faith in their arrival. 59% negative rating on the seller. It’s all the same. The buyers say the product never shipped and the seller says it’s Amazon’s fault. How Presidential! “I take no responsibility at all!” It seems I will be asking for a refund from Amazon next week. In the meantime, I ordered two more boxes from different sellers. One with a May 3 delivery and another with a May 11 delivery date. It looks like that one pair of disposable gloves will have to last me at least another few doses.

I haven’t slept normally in years. It’s not all Krista’s fault. But I’ve been sleeping in sprints the past 18 months or so. I can basically pass out for an hour or two. But then I’m awake again. Usually to pee lately. Apparently the keto diet is diuretic and I’m still trying to get the electrolyte part of that down so that I don’t have to wake so often. On the other hand, her 4am feeder hasn’t been opening on time lately. I think the battery needs to be changed. When I wake for a 4am pee, I find myself popping that feeder open for her more times than not. “Watch your nose!” She gets right in there waiting for me to pop it open.

I admit that I sometimes pop it just so I can get the bed back from her. Such a tiny cat knows how to take up so much space! Then she'll disappear under the bookcase for an hour or so to digest.

Well shoot! She had a great poop at 11:30am. I gave her some time to see if she was going to have bonus. She seemed good so I served lunch at noon. She pulls up after half a portion and goes to the box for round two. Then to the carpet for a drag and a near carpet bomb. I caught her trying to sneak one out from a low crouch, tail up position. "I know your tells! You're not fooling me." I shooed her to a box where she squeezed out the toothpaste squirt that put her over the edge.

The funny thing is, I had just picked up the pee pad from yesterday's barf and that's exactly where she put today's.

You'd think, "well why did you pick up the pad?" Because she would have just picked a different spot. She knows, up or down, pee pads are for peeing, and carpet is for barfing (and occasionally pooping.)

Anyway, I don't call these dosing day disasters for nothing.

I changed out her lunch plate remainder because, "that's the food I just barfed." I know how she thinks. It's a good thing I kept the burner can from yesterday. Just in case.

Miss Barf Paw is finally resting in her tree. May she get a good afternoon of sleep and wake up with dry paws.

And hopefully her even-odd pattern means the middle-of-the-night poop will be another one-and-done.
