My mom always told me from a very young age that girl children must keep themselves clean and shower every day. To prevent infections or whatever... keeping up overall appearance.

I'd ask if her mother is teaching her the same but I guess not. I thought that was a standard practice to teach a child? 😕

Well in the winter daily baths/showers can be very drying but definitely if a child is dirty or greasy they need a bath! We do every other day in the Winter because otherwise the kids skin cracks and dries.

She always comes to us dirty. Last time she came, I picked her undies up off the bathroom floor to wash them and they were yellow and crusty.
That's awful and that's dangerous for her because she could get a UTI so easily. I'm glad she at least has you guys caring about her in her life where her mom is failing.

Same but that requires money for a lawyer and we don't have it.
My ex asked me last night "what would you do if you won the lottery?". I told him the two things I wanted. I think the third would be to get you a good lawyer so you could get her out of those conditions and away from the psycho.

Winning the lottery would be great. Unfortunately, they have this silly rule that says you have to play to win and I don't have the money to give to the lottery people every week. LOL
Same here. I could use that money for so many other things. It adds up if you play every week.

Ex just texted. He said he had a hard day so be prepared, it's going to be a long night. Waiting for his call with a pot of coffee.
It's strange. Even after all these years, it's like we're still on the same page. We never missed a beat.

ETA: I'm so glad he didn't become a jerk.

And now Aislyn's talking about Grand Theft Auto. We asked her how she knows about it. Apparently her mother's boyfriend lets his 8 year old son play it in front of her. She'll be 7 right after Christmas! As far as I'm concerned, both kids are too young to know anything about it. I asked Aislyn to please not talk about it in front of Aedan. It's incredibly inappropriate!

Ugh, man that sucks. I have a friend who runs a daycare, and one of the daycare moms' roommate would occasionally ask her to watch her kids. They were sweet and adorable little kids. She (the daycare provider) had to bathe them and change them every time their mom dropped them off, and then she'd wash their clothes 3 times in hot water before their mom got back. It's really hard to see kid get treated like that.

They were eventually taken away, not because of basic neglect, but because one of her boyfriends did Very Bad Things to them. Which unfortunately is pretty common when there isn't a stable home environment. Make sure Aislyn understands the whole good touch/bad touch stuff and knows she can come to you at any time. That usually gets immediate CPS attention, in a way that basic neglect doesn't.

I only shower twice a week in the winter, because my skin and hair are temperamental. But no matter how often a person bathes, fresh undies every day are definitely necessary!

Are you ok? I've been trying to stay out of the ER for my health issues and it's hard because then I'm like 'do I wait until I'm almost dead to go?' Because I know the flu is so bad right now. I feel wretched today and am trying to be upbeat because my gift is coming today.
I'm ok. Thanks for asking. Do you have the flu?

That's why I can't live without all my products! I need my lotions, gels, and hair conditioner. I have to shower everyday or I smell like a lumberjack and my skin breaks out. It's torture when the power goes out, but now we have a generator that hooks up to the shower.

I hate that they raised Mega Millions & Powerball to $2. I feel like $1 was a good bargain, but $2 is just too much. I only play it when it gets to at least $100 million. The cats & I need enough to last us and NY income tax will take half.
