I need to learn how to saute with butter. I'm always afraid to burn it, so I use oil. I bet butter would taste yummier!
Don't use high heat or the butter will burn. Heat the pan first over medium heat, then add the butter. Swirl the butter around until it melts and add in whatever you are cooking.

It looks to me as if chunks of tofu might work in that recipe.
I wonder if tempeh would work. It's a great source of protein too.

Veggie quinoa burger with roasted red pepper hummus, spinach leaves and tomato on a bakery roll. Petite baby carrots on the side and honey crisp apple for dessert.

Butter beans are delicious with butter and hot sauce on them.

That would probably be good with some tofu in it.

What do you put on the sourdough bread?
I had a toasted veggie sandwich made with sourdough bread for lunch. I don't think I like it. The taste is so weird...and sour....
Sourdough is not for everyone. I use it as I do regular bread. Sammies, toast, grilled swiss on sd is really good. Butter and jam.
Patty melts. Yesterday I had a breakfast sammie from a restaurant with sd.

I really like sourdough anything. My starter is not overly sour, so I'm thinking that even people who don't really care for sourdough might like it. I use my starter to make bread, English muffins, soft pretzels, waffles and pancakes, rolls and biscuits, pizza dough, etc..We put apple butter on our sourdough English muffins and toast sometimes.

Have you tried tofu yet?
Of course. But I like it better from the Thai restaurant. I failed at cooking it myself. I should try again though.

I doubled up on my Metformin
Yikes! I hope that's not too dangerous.

Heat the pan first over medium heat, then add the butter.
Thanks. I will give it a try.

Sourdough is not for everyone.
I have to take back my insults about sourdough bread. I like it now! I just had to toast it longer, until it was golden brown all over. That takes some of the sourness out. I had a successful sandwich with it for lunch- mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, swiss cheese, and cashews. I had to leave off the hot sauce because my doctor ordered me to. Not sure how long that will last.

Really yummy, my daughter cooks it all the time. We bought it at Trader Joe's when she was in for a visit.
What's it taste like? And what's the texture like?

Of course. But I like it better from the Thai restaurant. I failed at cooking it myself. I should try again though.
Good for you. I've only tried cooking with it once, and it also was a failure. I've never had it at a restaurant. I should try cooking with it again too.

I wanted to try the veggie omelet at this one diner, but they told me that they won't serve omelets past 11am...Then they told me that they would serve omelets until 1pm every other Sunday, but only in the winter. That just seems like too many rules for me, it's a turn-off, and too hard to remember. :headshake:

I had another sourdough sandwich for dinner last night. This time I had leftover chicken on it, since I'm not vegetarian at dinner yet. Also lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo.

The best way for me to describe the taste is earthy and nutty. If you don't care for the rubbery-like texture of tofu then tempeh is a good alternative and it's firmer than tofu. I also think it's easier to prepare. I like the pan frying method best. Here's a good link about it: Here’s What You Should Know About Tempeh
