The Mojave Green is the deadliest of the rattlesnakes. We gave all the rattlers a wide berth and let them live their lives on their land, unlike some of our neighbors. There was a juvie slithering across the driveway once and my ex just walked it out to the undeveloped land across the road. The only venomous snake I've seen on my property was a Canyon Rattler (aka. Grand Canyon Rattlesnake). Don't even know how he got here. However, we do have the Green Mojave up here. They aren't near as aggressive as a desert mojave though.
I used to have a 6', as big around as my wrist, gopher snake living under the house..'Buddy'. I never saw a mouse or packrat for years. This one was only around 3' and I'm hoping he stays under the house for awhile.
Yeah, the Pine-Gophers do have quite an appetite for the rodents. We had kangaroo rats up there, too, and they were FAST. The pack (wood) rats can be really funny. There was one up there who'd do handstands in the bowl of rabbit pellet we put out for the cottontails and jackrabbits -- he'd stand there with his bright eyes on us, like he wanted us to share in the joke. He was pretty cute.
