That looks very serious. I’m amazed that the cat is not infected. The mucous membrane looks inflamed, it’s normally the same color as the inside of your mouth. Try to find someone who has experience with animals. If there is no vet nearby, someone else.

If you cannot help her, I agree with N nansiludie , that you should have the cat put to sleep so she doesn’t die in pain. It may be the kindest thing you can do for her.

If it goes on too long, the tissue will become necrotic and the infection will kill her. This is not something a cat can live with. I hope she can hold on until Sunday, and I hope the vet can fix her quickly.

It's cruel to allow a pet to suffer because someone doesn't want to spend the money. If you can't remedy that situation, you may want to consider not keeping pets until you're old enough to pay for their care yourself.

Sunday is still so far away. :( Have you tried care credit at all? I agree if you can’t afford treatment the best thing is to put her down or surrender her so she can get the help she needs.

I'm sorry sweetie but your cat may very well not make it until sunday. Has she passed any solid waste at all? I'm thinking she can't with it that inflamed. I am very upset to hear that there is in fact funds but those won't be used to help a cat in need nor ease her suffering.

I'm sorry, I simply do not understand a person who would not ease an animal who is obviously suffering. (I believe my psychologist friends might have a few words to say on that matter.) It is, plain and simply, animal cruelty. If an adult cannot be persuaded to provide medical/veterinary treatment for a distressed animal, then at least be kind enough to euthanize humanely.

I really am sorry to put it so bluntly, it's a hard decision to make, especially for a young person... the first time I had to make that decision was very difficult, but it also wasn't the last time. When our pets are hurting to a point where there is no possibility of survival with quality of life, it is our duty and responsibility to offer them peace.

Ok guys thank you sooooo much for the concern for the 100th time however I do not support putting the cat to sleep! Who am I to decide when to end her life?!? I'm really upset to see some of you guys supporting that... I know she's strong and she is fighting for her life.Sunday is not so far away it's just tomorrow and were going out at like 6 am in the morning. I'm not being selfish at all. I just think that i still have so much more to do for her before i give up.and i'd live in guilt my whole life if she could actually have a future n I just decided to take it away from her just cuz someone told me to (even if it was the veterinarian ) (many doctors have told their patients about how much time they have left and the patient actually lives longer) I'm sorry really no offense I appreciate all of you but i believe i should do my best first and when I see symptoms of her actually 'dying' with my own eyes I'll spend her last times with her . And that's when i do what my mom said and accept her fate after I've tried everything. Even though i feel like i did try everything i still believe there's a better solution .

We're not saying to give up yet. You need to go to the vet first, and see if she can be successfully treated.

But if your mother refuses to pay for treatment, or if the problem has progressed to the point that it can't be treated, it would be cruel to let your cat die slowly and painfully of a prolapse.

If you were sick and dying, you would be in the hospital with a lot of painkillers and other palliative care. They wouldn't just throw you in the street to die in pain. If someone isn't willing or able to do that for their cat, the next best thing is to help them die painlessly. I don't think you would have good memories if she died screaming and bleeding.

But no! We aren't saying she should be put to sleep if she can be treated and your family will pay for treatment. Only if she can't be treated, or nobody will pay for it.

We aren't giving up on you. In all likelihood, the vet will be able to treat her. Let us know how the appt goes. Tomorrow is Saturday in the US, so that's why we were worried.:crossfingers:

I’m not supporting it at all either, she just has to be in a lot of pain. And yes Saturday is tomorrow in the US. Best of luck to you and your cat. I hope she’ll be ok..

How is the poor cat. I can't believe this. That your mother can refuse to pay money to help your cat, it's obviously in pain. You were sunday isn't far away for goodness sake would you want to be left in pain distraught and frightened. And not letting the poor cat in the house is so upsetting. You are saying who am I when to decide to end her life. But who are you or your mother to allow her to continue in this state. I sincerely hope this poor cat has seen a vet and is now being helped

OP says she is 16 years old- her profile says she is 23 years old. Is it her account or someone else's she is using? I am just here for the update- its been a while since she posted anything.
