Illegal as in no driver's license or expired tags? Or number of people? Admittedly several years ago the state I was in had a law that said everyone had to use seat belts until all seat belts were occupied. The remaining passengers didn't have to be seat belted in. Maybe you have a similar law, which would make the clown car legal.

Illegal as in too many in the car. And unbuckled children. Shane is almost 9, Derek is 7, Susie is 6, Emily is 5, Little Johnny is 3, and Helen just turned 1. I think I got all the ages right. But, taking them all at once was the lesser of two evils. The only other option would be leaving half the kids with one of the parents to sit on the side of the road while he took the other half, then go back for them. And it's probably more unsafe for them to hang out next to a highway at 1 am than to load everyone up and drive on mostly empty streets. If they'd gotten pulled over, I'd like to hope the officer would have taken the circumstances into consideration.
I'll have to check to see if there's some kind of "clown car" law. I've never heard of it, but I've never had the opportunity to check it out, either, so I wouldn't know.

Well, that's interesting. But does that still apply to the passengers under 16? It sounds like it does, and the way I read it, they couldn't be pulled over for the sole purpose of checking seat belt compliance. And it also looked like everyone in the front would need to be buckled. I'm not sure that's how they did it. There were probably kids on laps in the front. Either way, they made it without incident.

It sounds like it'd apply to everyone regardless of age. If there ever is a next time (hope not) I'd put the youngest kid who can be in the front in the front, the two adults in the back. That way lap space is maximized in a legal way.

Getting a little aggravated with my online classmates.

This week's assignment is discussion-based, which means we have to post ours for everyone to read, and leave comments on two others. All posts and comments are due by 11:59 tonight.

I'm the only one who has posted. We've had a *week* to do this. At this rate, I won't be able to go to bed at a reasonable hour. If even one person posts after that, I'll miss the chance to leave a comment, and lose points.

People really need to think about their classmates.

Email your professor. That's what I did when I had a similar issue. They understood the problem and said that if they're weren't enough posts to comment on, I could finish my comments the next day without losing points.

I hadn't heard about the quakes. I'll say a prayer.
We had a father's day lunch with John's family at our local "greasy spoon" if you want to call it that. It's called Pancake City. I adore the place, good home cooking. Then for dinner, we had burgers and hot dogs on the grill we got John for father's day and had my grandma over. Now I really needv the baby to sleep because I have a lot of homework due in less than 3 hours and he's refused to nap all day. And he's not content with daddy. It's mommy or bust. Little turd.

Earthquake in Japan. Has anyone heard from Norachan Norachan ?
Osaka is about 200 miles from Mt Fuji, and a 6.1 isn't big enough to cause damage at that distance. . .she's probably OK. Sounds like a lot of damage around Osaka though. I hope the best for everyone involved. . .
Thank you, we're all fine. We didn't even feel it here.

We finally got a good, soaking rainstorm last night. Such a relief! We need the moisture desperately.

I just did a check on wildfires and it appears that, while the rain wasn't as heavy statewide, it was enough to make a real difference in the fires. Some were snuffed outright, and others have at least lost their momentum.

I love it! It's my favorite place. And it's pretty cheap, too. You just can't beat it.
If you're ever in town again, you should let me know. We could meet for lunch or something.
Today is my niece's 1st birthday! She's come so far in a year - from a tiny preemie in the NICU to a perfectly normal one year old, already trying to walk. After Aedan's nap, we're going shopping for a birthday present and I need a swimsuit since we're going to the lake. Aedan will need tiny little trunks. Miraculously, Aislyn's suit from last year still fits, even though nothing else does! She's really excited about eating birthday cake.

If they'd gotten pulled over, I'd like to hope the officer would have taken the circumstances into consideration.
I'm glad we now know it is legal, however, should an officer have objections, my own question would have been, "And, Sir, exactly which ones should I have left on the side of the road?"

All posts and comments are due by 11:59 tonight.
I agee, email your professor and suggest that posts be due 24 hours before comments are due. That gives everyone, regardless of their schedule, a chance to comment.

Little Bit is pregnant again. She had her first litter this year around the end of April or the first week in May. I just want to kick our counselmen who won't allow TNR, only Trap and Eliminate." I did, however, manage to convince them that they should only trap starting at the end of October through early March, so that tiny kittens aren't left to starve or worse when their mothers are trapped. Baby steps.

I just did some mandatory training at work. I'm trying to decide whether I am baffled by corporate's stupidity or finding it idiotically hilarious. Details later.
