Oh My Dear Lord!!!!!!!!!!!! Not babies anymore. Wow, look at these two beauties.

I haven't been on in a while and wasn't quite expecting them to be so big, LOL even though I've been following since the start of the journey, they will forever be two little toddler kitties to me. LOL

I need to read up on this "TAIL" haha, but I'm wondering if there has been any updates on Tera. I believe she did find a forever home.

So cute.

Never an update on Tera. Sad and hard but the person who took her did so in a thoughtful processed way not by impulse. It's hard to accept but true it is perfectly reasonable that someone could lover her as much as we did. Frog and Toad are my meatballs and wudgies.

I am trusting that Tera is having the life that I imagine for her. Yes, they took their time deciding about her, and that bodes very well, indeed!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we have our Toad and Frog and their sisters, Mercy and Mook to ooooh and aaaah over!

I think of her often Toad resembles her most in actions and looks. She has the same grace and ease that Tera had the last time I seen her. She always had it though and I seen it right away.
Of course Mercy was impulse but I knew the moment I seen her. Two desperate souls collided.
Frog and Toad are on the small cat tree pulled up to the front door and Toad as one foot on the screen. Not pushing or clawing but she must be touching. Mook is on a lower shelf and Mercy curled up in a snug bed waiting for me to lay down for a while so she can get snuggles.
I have to believe that Tera has a routine and can find a kind hand to hold and pet her when her heart desires.

You have done well by ALL of them, including Tera and those poor mites who didn't make it. I remember them often.
Those lost would have suffered on for days and Frog and Toad would have suffered neglect as Tera kept trying to tend them. They were neither cast off or sacrificed but rather reflect the brutal truth of cats like Tera tossed out intact as mere babies themselves trying to survive. I have always been thankful that Tera, Frog and Toad made it out alive. It's also why I call my SIL/FIL/MIL serial animal abusers. I have little doubt she came from there a once cherished kitten tossed out like endless others. It is impossible to call yourself an animal lover and not spay and neuter.

OH HOW I AGREE WITH YOU! One of the heartbreaks of my life just now is that there is no TNR program here. In fact, the protocol is "Trap, Euthanize." This goes for all animals who act feral when caught. Those who are obvious strays are held for 5 days. It is horrible. But...the gathering of information goes well, and at some point early in next year, I'll be armed and ready to take on the town council!

So you know just a few short years ago there was nothing here. Not even trap and euthanize most stray/feral/lost/tossed cats either starved or died at the mouths of loose dogs or were shot or poisoned. Today we have several cat specific organizations , just since Tera, that TNR, barn cat and find homes for kittens. It can happen keep yelling your case and looking for resources.

I want to add that with no TNR it encourages people to feed and allow feral cats to breed making the problem 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000fold of what it could be. People can be fond of a stray like you. love them dearly and now who would willingly turn them in knowing they will simply be killed. That is the same mentality used when authorities thought people would leave their pets to drown in Katrina. Overpopulation of cats is a people problem you have to fix it there to make all the TNR work. There is very little psychology applied to the reasons we have animal overpopulation even in places where TNR and low cost free S/N available for anyone regardless of income. What buttons aren't we hitting when we talk to someone with a cat that's on litter number 3 ?

It drives me nuts. And even more nuts that our complex won't allow trapping on the grounds unless the cats are euthanized. It is barbaric. These cats DID NOT ASK FOR THIS LIFE!

We cannot fix the problem until everyone especially those making the laws factor in the human heart. Where there are reasonable options I believe numbers drop.
As long as pets remain property all laws even cruelty laws remain largely unenforced.
My In-laws were never arrested for starving livestock. Allowing their dogs to inbreed in a pen that didn't even have a gate but where food and water were tossed over. Where dogs and cats roam the road get hit and breed. Whoever tossed Tera out and it was obvious from the first time I let her out of the crate in our home she had been domesticated had no fear of anyone knocking on their door and slapping an animal abandonment charge on them. There is a lot of fluff about the joys of having a pet, saving a life but very little on the responsibility that comes with that. Pets are precious and a commodity for the pet product industry until the shelters are full and they are then disposed of like garbage. And then advocacy groups rail against the shelters for making that choice but the people who fill the shelter though neglect and not S/N is neglect are never fined. Instead there is a constant and unending free pass. If you have a cat especially you can just open the door and heave.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the one of Mercy hunting Toad! OH that look on her face! Missed you Sunday and yesterday. I'm taking Sundays offline for a while, and I managed to get a tummy virus that started Saturday night and ended in the wee hours this morning. I feel eversomuch better, but I'm still shaky and feel hollow inside!
