Jaspers original foster posted that the owner did not take the cat to the vet for three years. During that time Jasper lost almost a third of his bodyweight. If she wants to be angry at someone that would be the person to go rip into. Rescue animals can come fully loaded with hidden time bombs. Pouring all the right food, worming, stabilizing his blood sugar may have simply been like pouring some of that miracle engine treatment in a dying car. You might keep it running for a while but you are just masking the mechanical breakdowns. I just hope everyone on both sides of this finds some peace.

So as I was coming in to work tonight at 11 someone messaged be about a young kitten they guessed to be 8 weeks old running around in a parking garage at a hotel. Very scared. I was unable to go try to get it since I had to work so I messaged one of my fosters who I know stays up late to see if she could go out and try to catch it. I hate to think of it getting hit by a car flying through the parking garage :/ They went out and caught it within a half hour! They said as soon as they opened a can of food she came running- poor thing was starving. They said she is flea infested and has a URI so they are going to give her a bath and flea meds and I am going to try to get her in to my vet tomorrow! They said she is a dilute calico- I am still waiting for a picture but I will post one when they send it!

The foster (who was a vet tech at my vet) just messaged me and said she has two abscesses from bite wounds on her. One is open, one is not. She gave her a bit of pain medicine and waited for it to start working and then cleaned out the open one. Poor thing.

Ok! So here is the open abscess before Michelle cleaned it.

Here it is after she cleaned it...

And here she is now! They wrapped it up. I am calling my vet in the morning with the intention of picking her up from my foster after I get off of work and dropping her off at my vet for them to look at her when they get a chance during the day and get her cleaned up some more.

Her name is Chestnut because the parking garage she was running around in was for the Chestnut Hotel. lol

Wow! Another great save! Poor kitty - she really got beat up.

Your vet will probably put her on antibiotics. I'm sure Chestnut feels better already! :)

The foster said that with heat the other abscess is now open as well and she did find another puncture wound. Poor little girl. She'll start feeling well soon!

Chestnut looks like a little fox in that photo. She is well on her way to being healthy thanks to you.

Chestnut is still at the vet! The abscess on her front leg is the most concerning. He said worse case they may end up having to amputate. He is going to try to stretch the skin and stitch it some what closed today after he flushes it out. She also had a small abscess on her back leg and a little puncture wound on her neck. She is in so much pain but she is such a sweetie! VERY skinny. You can feel every bone.

So sad so many of these babies never know a childhood. We had one tummy ache and a stuck poop in 10 months with Frog and Toad. They don't know anything but love. It breaks my heart in so many ways to see all of these little babies you take and every other rescue also that tries to make a difference. Kittens grow fast lets home she outpaces her wounds.

Poor baby! I can't imagine what would have become of her if she had not been rescued.

Hopefully, the wound will heal.

What a cutie she is! I hope that it isn't necessary to amputate, but at her age, she won't remember even having that let in a month! I am constantly amazed at how well cats adjust to amputations, even older ones. They just take a peek, say, "OH...that's different," and get on with the business of living large.

whoever dumped her and let her end up hurt should lose a leg too.

I know many of you saw this update on the facebook page but we picked her up and she is settling back in to her foster home! So it was just the two abscesses on her legs and then the wound on her neck looks like it was a warble hole. The front leg is the worst, they weren't able to stitch it completely closed but they got it mostly closed and we will be taking her back Monday or Tuesday for them to look at her again to make sure it isn't infected and see if they can/need to stitch it closed more.

I would say she had been roughing it for several days. The poor girl is VERY underweight. Plus if you can see in the first picture of the abscess the tissue started dying. Pain meds and antibiotics, I hope she heals quickly since she is so young! I think the vet was only thinking amputation if it would get an infection after they close it.. They seemed pretty hopeful about her when we picked her back up!
