Our big snow ended overnight. Roads were cleared by morning, sun came out, temps in the upper 20’s and by noon everyone was out doing usual pre Christmas stuff.

Well, the storm didn't bring any snow, but it rained and blew like crazy. Numerous power outages in the area, but mine won't go out any more now because I fixed the carburetor on the generator!

Anyhow, it was 61 F. here today. What a waste of what should have been a nice unseasonably warm day in December!

We were supposed to get a huge atmospheric river storm, starting yesterday around 3 p.m. and dropping anywhere from 4" here on the coast to 10" in the nearby mountains! It hasn't happened so far. We got less than 1/2" of rain overnight. The Powers That Be are still saying we could get from 2-4" today. We could sure use it.

Right now, it's dark, windy and 52º, let's hope we get some of that rain.

:rolleyes:46 degrees we were supposed to get rain already supposedly up to 8 feet of snow in the mountain areas doubtful though more danger of mudslides etc in the burned out areas with any steady rain here

We’re in the same boat—hoping for rain but not mudslides in the burn areas. We have evacuation warnings for some of the burn areas around here in case there’s a hard rain that causes slides. They’ve closed part of Highway 1 as a precaution, too.

It's a mild winter day with temps in the 40's, but starting tomorrow things will change. The forecast for Wednesday is temps in the 50's with 60mph winds. Then in the afternoon we can expect a thunderstorm and we'll still have those winds. The meteorologists tell us the snow we got over the weekend will preferably melt in the relative warmth so it doesn't blow around in the wind making everything worse. And finally, the temps drop to the 20's on Thursday, still with wind of course, so hopefully we won't have too much ice.

The temps got up to 64F today which is unprecedented for this time of year but they're supposed to drop to 40F tonight with wind gusts up to 50 mph.

I heard about the tornadoes on the news this morning especially downstate IL. Stay safe and please check in to let us know if you're okay. :crossfingers:

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and temp is currently 36F.
Oh dear so so sorry I haven't seen this before. Thanks for your concern you are so sweet. Central Il had no tornados. Southern IL was hit. There were lives lost in the Edwardsville IL Amazon warehouse tornado. The wind is terrible tonite here but severe weather is a state over to the West. We are going to have a severe temp drop with rain late tonite. 20211215_202614.jpg 20211215_202556.jpg 20211215_202637.jpg

We were predicted to have a huge storm last night, with potential tornados and severe thunderstorms, followed by a day of sustained 60 mph winds and cold. Got a few thunder claps is all and while it is a bit windy and lightly snowing, nothing really out of the ordinary. Temps did go from 53 yesterday to 19 today though.

This month's weather has been bizarre. What's up with all this warm? I live near the Canadian border! It's almost shirt-sleeve weather here today.

Just periods of alternating wind and rain. Power has been off twice in the past week. Back fence blew down. Newly-installed streetlights were blown over by the wind. The Weather Service says we probably won't have any accumulation of snow for the rest of the month. Crazy!
