Some bad news today our little white girl, Clawdia, has managed to injure herself quite badly. Not exactly sure how it happened, but we think it happened when our other cat kicked her off her perch and she hurt her neck/throat when she fell off. The odd bit was that there is no visible external or internal damage...
She was a bit dazed but immediately seemed fine after. This morning we woke up to a lethargic kitty with a swollen face... and we immediately took her to the vet’s. They’ve done the whole works, x-rays, bloods, etc... and nothing abnormal showed up. The swelling, which apparently is a load of air trapped under the skin, however is not subsiding but has increased significantly. She is stable, but naturally we are very, very worried at this point.
The vet did keep her in tonight for observations, and just in case she needs emergency drainage or surgery. They also said that sometimes the tears are so miniscule you cannot see them on an x-ray... still, very worrying.
On top of that, tomorrow is the big day for our other cat. Who (with his brain injury) is getting neutered. Poor lad.
