He was lucky to be adopted by you folks who'd take on the challenge of getting him down to a healthy weight.
I just reread you first post, and saw that he was almost 9 at the time, and had just been neutered. I'm sure having his original owner die was stressful for him, but he's in a much better home now, with humans, a feline sister and canine siblings who all love him.
