Wow, Przewalski horses! I had no idea they existed anywhere out side of Russia. They've very rare, aren't they? They're the ancestors of our modern day domestic horses. I hear they still have "toes" rather than one hoof on each leg. (Although I guess you were a bit too far away to see that. ;))
The horses are not endemic @Norachan, they were imported to that particular reserve a long time ago. But that makes them not less fascinating to observe.

~ :hellocomputer: Well fellow cat lovers ... Think about this : Almost every one of our little friends that we adopt into our lives would probably be A.) dead; B.) stray, hungry & scared ; C) sick, alone and suffering . We get to enjoy the fact we created a happy environment for these animals and we meet others like us at The Cat Site ... !

I'll sitting here eating a bacon and cheese whopper. I was really craving red meat so I may or may not be a bit low on iron and I didn't feel like coooking so we got Burger King.

So do the suggestions for where the money goes go here? I have one, as they are really wonderful and a true no kill that have lots of special needs animals and they take excellent care of them! I go in anytime I'm close to pet all the kitties! It's help humane in belton missouri. They are wonderful. My good news is I'm fostering a kitty for them that was to obnoxious and was picking on the older ones. He's a very cute very large Manx who has a touch of the Manx syndrome. I pick him up the end of the week, and I'm excited as I believe he will fit in well around here.

SO many great posts and pix! I'm also amazed at the Przewalski horses, mama africa mama africa -- must be so great to actually see some in reality! And @jtbo -- those look SO GOOD.
Night is falling here, and soon it will be time for the Three to dine on some delectables. They have some special treats right now that they are enjoying very much -- I tell them that if they do a good job on their dinner they will get some "chicken bits" and they've been snorking them up. When they're happy, I'm happy :D:dancingblackcat::clapcat::tabbycat:

It's been a great weekend for Charlie in that I found his fluffy mouse, one of his favorite toys! Somehow it ended up at the bottom of the bag where I keep all his fishing pole toys. His big red mouse was also in there so I also gave that to him, even though he'd always ignored it previously. Then, surprisingly, Charlie started batting his big red mouse around the room and completely ignored his fluffy mouse!

Well, I'm happy that both Cherry and Piper have made my boyfriend a fan of cats. He always thought Cherry was funny and loving, but she would only really be like that with me. But now that we have Piper, she's been so attached to my BF. At night I watch her snuggle up to him and try to get him to pet her while he's asleep. Glad he found a cat that has a bond with him like mine and Cherry's. :)

So the best news! Today our longest foster, Sherbet was finally adopted! He was just a couple weeks shy of being here for a whole year! It was so hard to say goodbye but I am so happy for him! He came to us completely feral from a small colony close to us. He has really blossomed here and is sooo playful. I am so glad he finally got his own home! Hopefully we can get some more adults adopted soon- as the requests for us to take in more never stop!

It has been two weeks since Patrick went to his new home which hopefully will be his forever home. He was with me as a foster for over 3 years and I suffered a bit from separation anxiety but I have been assured that he is doing well in his new home although still as scared and unsociable as he was here. He went by relay about 500 miles from here so I can't visit and make sure he is alright. All black cats have a hard time getting adopted so he has finally lucked out. :yess:

I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and subclinical hypothyroidism and put on medication. After nearly a decade of being constantly exhausted, I'm only 32 so 1/3 of my life, I'm beginning to feel healthy again. Hooray for one tiny, 13 cent a day pill giving me hope for the future!

This has been a very difficult week for me — I was actually prompted to join this site as I prepared to help one of my cats cross the Rainbow Bridge — but I am so grateful for the support, positivity, and genuine care I have encountered here. Thanks so much to all of you!

On a lighter note, I was delighted to find these adorable cat stockings at Home Goods today— can’t wait to put them up!

Hi There,
I am a cat Mama to five kitties of various ages, but my oldest cat is a ginger boy named Yoda. Yoda is 17 and sadly, I have been watching his health slowly go downhill these past few years. We've known for a couple years now that he has kidney disease, but our vet has put him on a prescription diet and he actually seems to be doing ok on it...well...he doesn't seem to be getting worse. He's lost a lot of weight in his old age, he used to be a big boy, strong and healthy but sadly, weight loss seems to come with old age and kidney disease. He's also got a bit of dementia...seems lost and confused at times but as soon as I pick him and cuddle him all that goes away. Well, this past year, he started pacing through the house at night, back and forth back and forth, and howling all night long. I just couldn't figure out what was wrong with him! Then I noticed that his mouth smelled awful! So I took him to a specialist this time and she said his teeth were bad and that they could be the cause of the smell and the howling. So we got what was left of his teeth pulled and the old guy is feeling like a champ now! One of the younger boys thought he was gonna take over as Alpha Cat in the house but So Sorry Little Boy...Yoda is still the king of THIS house! We thought we were going to lose Yoda soon these past couple years but now that we got those rotten teeth out of his mouth and they are no longer poisoning his kidneys, the howling has stopped, and we may get to keep him around for another couple years! I sure do hope so because we sure do love our Yoda boy. We've had him since he was 6 weeks old and I remember the day I picked him out of the litter like it was yesterday. I know some of this post is kinda sad in certain spots, but over all I think its absolutely PAWsitive! Here's a pic of him taken a few years ago, back in his healthier years. He's playing with a cloth mousie in his the outdoor cat patio...or as Jackson Galaxy calls them, the Catio!

This is always a great thread! I absolutely love to snuggle with my kitties, especially when it starts getting cold. My 3 boys follow me from room to room while my 2 girls are content just knowing I'm around.

November is my birthday month! Happy Nov 1st y'all :hyper:
This is the first time I've replied to a specific post so I doubt that I'm doing it right. I tried to figure out how to reply just to your first paragraph but couldn't do it.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say Hi! And that I have 3 boys and 2 girls too!

We heat with wood in a woodburner at our house in the wintertime and I just went out to put a log on the fire and one of my boys was standing next to me as I placed the log in, so I gave him a few good strokes, and before I knew it all three boys were lined up there in front of the fireplace, in a perfect row, waiting for their strokes too. So I sat down on the hearth and gave them all some good stroking and scritching. Two of them sat there patiently waiting their turns while the others got their pets but not Cooper. He's the type where if you give him a little, he wants a lot. When they had wore me out, I had to run to the bedroom and shut the door behind me until Cooper calmed down or he would have followed me, jumped on the bed, and got the girls all upset. They don't like Cooper on "their" bed because he just doesn't know when enough is enough and he disrupts the peace when we're all trying to settle in for the night. Quite the loverboy, he is!

And hey, Happy Birthday!

That is a very positive message! I am so happy that Yoda is feeling better! Congratulations on finding what was affecting his health. :happycat:
