If the female is not spayed chances are high she is pregnant. Are you prepaired to deal with a pottential litter of kittens?
If you read though the whole thread you'll see that Sharky is taking the young cat to the vet tomorrow to be spayed.

That's such wonderful news S Sharky22 ! You did an excellent job of trapping them both in such a short time. I hope everything goes well with the vet and the socialising.

Please keep us updated.

Thanks again, everyone, for the advice and feedback. It has helped me so much through the process.

Last night, we trapped the bigger boy and got the trap inside a warm room in our house. Success!

After we got him in last night, about an hour and a half later, the little one suddenly reappeared on our deck! We were shocked and overjoyed, and had to hustle in our thinking about how we were going to handle it all. We gave her a good meal and prayed that she'd use our garage overnight to stay in. We also prayed that she'd be back the next night to feed again.

We brought the boy to the vet this morning and had him scanned for chip, neutered, vaxxed, and the whole workup. He had been quiet all night at our house in the trap, and quiet on our whole drive. When the vet's office called us to report on how things went, they said he was WILD and they weren't sure that I'll be able to socialize him. We picked him up this afternoon and he was so, so good on the drive back home, this time in a carrier. He's resting now in a warm, soothing room in our house. I'm not sure what I'll face with him as I get to know him and attempt to socialize him.

We decided to set the trap out again tonight. Sure enough, we just caught the little one! A miracle. She's in a separate room in the trap now and we will be bringing her in early tomorrow morning for the same vet visit that the boy went through today.

Honestly, we would adopt both if everything goes okay with my socializing them and introducing them to our others, who are all so great together. I don't mind the work of it, because I love them. It's really the idea of future medical costs when things go bad that worries me so much. So, we're going to take things one day at at time and protect and take care of them now and figure out the best scenarios for them as we go. At least I know that they won't be out this winter in the blizzards we get in upstate NY, along with all the other vulnerabilities they face out there.

Thank you all for the guidance!
This news just made my day-thank God &"God Bless you!

I'm not convinced either of these little darlings are ferals and I've heard the " WILD ,can't socialize " more times than I care to remember- never met a feline that could not be a wonderful housecat, and it wasn't my hobby it was my profession ( training animals primarily)

I certainly understand your reservations because of the financial responsibilities and that is wise of you to consider whether or not you'll be able to afford it.There are alot of ways to get assistance for their regular maintenance and Veterinary expenses but we just can't foresee what may come up in the future-you sound like a wonderful responsible pet parent- I do hope you can work it out and keep them both❤

You might be interested in reading Timmy's story-but please ignore the Title, lol He is now officially "Timmy the Housecat""after only 5months ,he is now part of our 5cat clowder,my little family. Its alot of reading,5 months of transitioning a 7yr old WILD cat that could not be socialized-lol

We are all here to support & encourage one another, especially when everyone else says " can't be done "..With alot of love and patience you will accomplish your goals with great success

I hope you'll look back at these early pages 5 months from now and say" Wow,look how far we've come ""....

Timmy,7yr old TNR true feral! COLD TURKEY!

Thank you, everyone!

I'm writing with the update that the little one is in fact a male, and the vet thinks he is around 6 months old! Poor little one! I am thanking the heavens that he returned to us. He's now neutered, vaxxed, etc. And he is now Finn Matteo! We are definitely keeping him.

Kwik Kwik , I really, really thank you for that encouragement!!! I have hope for the big boy (who we've now named Desmond Maximus) being socialized too. I've done it with 2 other adult strays we took in, and so far, here in his room, he is being incredibly calm and quiet. He's just sitting recovering in the carrier we brought him home from the vet in with the door open, calmly observing us when we go in. He's not acting wild whatsoever.

I really look forward to reading Timmy's story.

I'll post photos of the boys a little down the line as they get acclimated to indoor life!

I'm over the moon to hear this! You've definitely had the best possible outcome, way better than I think any of us could have hoped for. Things sound like they're going great so far so I really hope Finn and Desmond settle in with you and your existing cats. I'm pretty confident this whole thread is cheering you and them on. I for one am looking forward to seeing how they progress.

Here's Finn settling in to indoor life when we first got back. (Now, unsurprisingly, he's hiding.)
It's normal for him to hide at this stage as everything is new to him. The sights and sounds and environment takes awhile to get soaked in by him. Leave the carrier door opened for him so that he can use it as a safe place.

Encourage him to come out with treats and toys and a cat wand. No need to rush to get him out. Let him explore by himself and when all things looks safe to him, he'll eventually come out.

Leave you clean unwashed non perfumed clothings with him so that he gets familiar scents of you.

Great to see him relaxing.

Oh my goodness sharky sharky .... he looks so comfy and not like he's terrified or afraid to be indoors, his ears are up,his paws tucked under and not cowering all the way in a corner..... Already his little mind is saying" this doesn't look so bad in here and it sure is cozy "

You're going to do really really well with these babies---- he's just beautiful
