We get very cold winters here and a lot of the cats fluff up like that when it snows.

Hiro, Button's half-brother.

Hiro and Button have the same grand parents as Twinkle and her sisters. They're all from the same colony, but I don't know where that long-haired gene came from.

It's one of those feral cat secrets.

Twinkle has a bob-tail too.

when I think of "bob tail" I imagine a tail no longer than maybe 2 inches or no tail at all, looking like bit of tuft. I would call your cats having "short tails" since they have a real tail, it's just shorter than  what we usually see on cats. Do you know if they have the same number of vertebrae as usual tails or are they fused together to make the tail look shorter?

Julie's tail is like that.  I call it her fist.   When she gets excited, she swishes her tail and thumps everything in range.

So I have a question then...those tails look like they are more from inbreeding...did you say yours came from a feral colony @Norachan ?
