It's interesting: Pantera recently formed her summer coat, and now looks much slimmer than before although her weight remains the same. This gets attention because as a rule brazilian cats don't develop summer/winter coats (thie climate in this part of Brazil really only has two seasons, hot and Hell de Janeiro ). Pimenta, for example, is now comparatively fluffy next to Pantera.

Unusual; another quirk to add to the list 🤔:blackcat2:

Maybe having to do with climate change? There generally isn't a lot of change in coats here in Los Angeles Metro either, but in the Mojave, high desert at 4,100 feet up, there were four seasons and our cats did get a LOT heavier and longer coats for the cold weather.

Although she has been inside for over 3 years now, Miss Eleanor still grows a much thicker coat in fall and winter as a result of her years outside. The others don't seem to change with the seasons, perhaps because they have never experienced a WNY winter, except to observe it from inside.

Climate change is a can of worms that I'd rather not open, but the weather here has been screwy the last couple of years: warmer summers than usual, cooler summers than ususal, a lot rainier than usual year round. It's as is the seasons have shifted by several months :headscratch::headscratch:

The point I wanted to make is that Pimenta's coat hasn't changed but Pantera's did. It's another quirk on the list of non-brazilian traits that Pantera has 🤔
