I guess she just wanted a smaller and closed in nesting box? I don't know what we are going to do when the kittens are older. Here is to hoping that tomorrow morning the two b/w ones have gained!
Again I'm a rank amateur but Tera was happy as could be in her crate for the first 3 weeks. After that we had to let her out to sit in the window and teach her to play and cuddle. Those first few weeks she was just a milk machine. We knew she needed out the day she grabbed the babies and brought them out with her to scoot them around on the floor. I believe someone reassured me that mother cats often find tight dark places to nurse and care for their babies the first few weeks and to not feel bad about keeping her a crate.

Every cat is different I guess! This is the first momma that I have had that has preferred a small cat carrier, but I guess it makes her feel safe? I would feel smooshed lol all of my other moms wanted the bigger boxes.

So mostly good news this morning! No one lost any weight! However the bad news is my smallest one didn't gain- but for once she didn't lose!
Black- 203
b/w1 131
b/w2 169
orange 1 232
orange 2 193
The biggest one is 100 grams bigger than my poor tiny baby!
Calling vets today to get some of these applications for these babies (all of the litters) approved!
Olivia's litter has started wet food this morning!

London's foster sent me pictures last night! I am in love with the dilute tortie that looks like momma! She said the little black boy is the runt. I am waiting for her to send me their weights. They will be one week old tomorrow!

London's kittens look very healthy!

Good news that Olivia's babies are starting wet food!

Can you try syringing b/w 1 again? Can Kyle hold her body still while you hold her head still to get some drops in?

If not, she may need tube feeding. At least she did not lose, but she is clearly getting pushed off the nipples. :(

The problem I have is not her body moving- I keep it still by wrapping her up in a towel the problem is that she screams the entire time, with only a half of a second in between to get a drop in her which usually results in it getting spit back out. I will be getting up to wake her up and guide her to the nipples today and hopefully that will help some. I will try supplementing when I go in too but I am not too hopeful on that end. I will weigh her again this evening and see how she is progressing!

Thanks! I will check it out! So before I came in to work tonight she had gained just a teeny tiny bit. She was up to 133 grams. I don't know :/

Have you considered supplementing the kittens that are doing well and will accept a bottle so that the smaller weaker ones can have more access to nursing ?

Now, there's a thought! Or just removing them on a regular schedule to give the littlest ones some time to nurse where they don't have to fight for position?

I'm tickled to death with a 2 gram gain! Heck, I was happy when she didn't lose! This is actually a tiny step forward.

Everyone is doing really well except for the smallest. No loss, no gains though. I can't supplement the others because they also refuse to stop screaming for me to supplement. She is getting weaker now. I am hoping she accepts the bottle or syringe soon.

So I was just able to get a couple of mls of formula into her and she perked up some. I put her back down with mom and she latched on and nursed while the others were sleeping. I hope this helps!

I hope so. If not she needs tube feeding. I am having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that she cannot be syringe fed. Kittens who won't or can't eat get tube fed.

I have never tube fed before... is that something the vet would have to do? She took formula from the syringe today I think because she was too weak to fight it. Then like I said she perked up and I noticed the others were sleeping so I put her with mom and she is latched on now.

An update on everyone else! So all of the older kittens except for the solid black one are currently pending adoption! And all of Olivia's except for 2 are pending adoption- an the two I have applications in on I just haven't reviewed them yet! I have someone interested in Olivia too! I think I am getting another older litter of kittens soon.
