This evening we were also contacted about this urgent pregnant dilute tortie from a shelter we have never worked with before. So now finding a place for her is more my priority than the black and white momma- the shelter with the black and white mom is reaching out to other rescues too .

Please give that sweet girl some extra love from me [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

In a strange turn of events I think I have found a foster for the black and white Momma and her babies. Opinions on keeping the dilute tortie in a large dog crate in my spare room with Olivia? I would hate to stress everyone out. I dont think this will be too much for me to handle. I have had a lot of support recently with supplies... Love you guys!

You mean to keep the new pregnant mom in a large crate in the room with Olivia?

Yes. Do you think this would be too stressful on both of them? Olivia yesterday ran out of the room when I opened the door and met one of my other fosters and she was very relaxed around her...

And I mean the largest crate I can find... Possibly this one.  She is in a small cage now..

I would put new pregnant cat in the crate in the room with Olivia.

Perhaps over time she could be let out. Play it by ear.

That's a good size crate.

Do you think there would be any issues with this? I am so stressed out. I definitely cannot take anymore until these kittens are old enough for adoption.

I think it will be a good thing. She's in a small cage at a shelter presumably with many other cats. Your home is a much better option!

A large dog crate with a blanket or a sheet over it should be fine. The blanket should give the new kitty the feeling of a good hiding place.

It will almost certainly be a better place for her than at the shelter.

Was Olivia tested for FIV/FeLV? I'd recommend testing the new mom just to be safe.

Update! The rescue that has Willow and her babies (the black and white) found another rescue to pull her! Which is wonderful! So the foster I found for her said they can take the dilute tortie after the babies are born (they don't feel comfortable taking a pregnant cat I guess) so this sounds perfect!

No problem! I see on FB that you are asking for someone to donate the crate. How soon can you get her and do you have anything to put her in until you get the big crate?

The shelter has combo tested the dilute tortie! Olivia has not been tested yet!

I think I can get someone to donate the crate pretty quickly, and then we just need to arrange picking up the tortie! I think this is all going to work out!

Great! It should be okay even though Olivia has not been tested.

I found someone who will loan me a big dog crate! I emailed the rescue who has the dilute tortie and told them we can pull them! We will arrange transport and everything in the morning! I am glad another rescue pulled Willow and her babies! It was just a lot for me lol. I will keep the dilute tortie until she has her babies and they are a week old (just to make sure they are gaining and everything) and then they will go to a foster :)

It is the foster that I originally found for the black and white cat and her kittens- another rescue is pulling her. The foster doesn't feel comfortable taking in a pregnant cat- she is worried about something going wrong.. so I told her I could keep her until the babies are a week old and she could foster. That way she would only have to be in the crate until she has her babies and they are a week old, then she will be going into a room of her own at the fosters house if all goes well!

Whew! I had to go back and read all the recent posts in order as they were popping up so fast that I missed your explanation of the foster switches. That explains why you'll only have the dilute tortie until a week after she has her babies. It's all working out!
