Hello everyone, I just joined this site but have come here many times seeking knowledge about cat health and have learned an incredible amount. Thank you for that!! ♡
My question is about probiotics. I've got a 6 month old kitten who was on antibiotics at least 5 times and I'm trying to build up his gut flora. He had diarrhea about 2 weeks after coming home. The vet treated him for worms (even though he was treated through the rescue). He was also diagnosed with girardia (spelling?)...an infection in his gut. The antibiotics helped for a little over a week but his stool got loose again so I did some homework and put him on Vetriscience capsules. He's 6lbs so i cautiously give him 1/3 of a capsule. It has tremendously helped him and we now have great stools.
1. Is this the best choice of a probiotic for a cat?
2. Do i need to supplement him forever with it (of which I'm happy to do for his health)?
3. Are there better cat probiotics out there that are cat specific (Vetriscience is for both dogs and cats)....or doesn't it matter as they are both carnivores?
Any help and advice appreciated.
