Needed some time to recover from that photo.... actually, it might take me some time. Anubis is hilarious, I think he might even be more expressive than Mouse.
I reckon you feel Anubis is so big now because he was such a little scrap when you brought him in to your home. I remember when Mouse was about 9 months old and starting to fill out and look more grown up too and I was convinced he was fully grown and huge - but looking back he was about half the size he is now. I think he weighed about 9 lb and now is more like 15 lb (but rather less fit I fear). I had only had female cats before and Mouse at 9 months was about the same size as they were fully grown and actually weighed more. Anubis looks pretty perfect to me, and not a monster cat at all (apart from that steely look in his eyes
).
My thoughts on Anubis copying everything he sees Princess doing is that he recognizes that both he and Princess are cats and he is learning from her in the same way he would from playing with siblings and watching his fur mom. Doing so from another cat is the next best thing and it is great for him that he has a cat companion. When cats live together they will often share phases through the day too, so will eat then groom then sleep then play and so on. If Princess is the more dominant cat it makes sense that Anubis usually follows her lead - though not always of course.
