Darlene:

That was pretty much it. It was actually my mother's cousin's wife. She always was a bit of a tyrant, with a loud-mouthed Virginia drawl.

We went over there for some dinner. There I am in the 60s Sunday garb: dress, hat, white gloves, Mary Janes, the whole gammut.

No sooner do I get in the house and she shrieks: "Why don't ya'll get out there and husk some corn?"

Out I went. No use turning to my mother for appeal. She was always so intimidated by the woman, I'm surprised she wasn't out there husking along side of me.

that's exactly what i would have said, great post, Donna

Oh Debby, did I ever need that natural high tonight! Grrr, dial-up. I hate it. When is civilization coming to this neighborhood? That's it. I'm selling the house.

Welcome home to the wonderful world of dial-up connecting! Ah, yes, it's such fun — but I'm lucky insofar as I've never had a high-speed connection, so I'm not going through withdrawal like you.

I'm just happy the darned thing works!

Thank God I haven't had to go through the endless busy signal thing since my aol days. This is just slow, and I hate having the phone line tied up. I have to keep the cell phone nearby when I'm online. Well, since this is a Natural Highs thread, I'll say that at least I'm getting my money's worth from the phone company!
