Feelin' more like home by the post. I do miss my people.Yes, ma'am. ~ducks head~
Just don't call me late for grits, greens and tea, please.
Well, Sugah, let's talk sweet tea and hushpuppies!
I searched her posts, and now see why you are concerned. I hope she's ok.*Anyone seen maggiedemi? I'm very concerned about her.*
A lot of us are. I messaged "help" here on site. Let's hope someone has her email and can check on her. *PRAYERS*I searched her posts, and now see why you are concerned. I hope she's ok.
Man, I disappear for a week, and this thread goes NUTS! But I think I'm all caught up now. LOL, and no one noticed I was gone! I'm sneaky like that!
BTW...I really, REALLY like the floor in the cat room!
PHBBBBTTTTTTTTT!
*Girls. GIRLS!*
I don't know our true family name on my dad's side, so it doesn't matter to me what you call me. Just don't call me late for grits, greens and tea, please.
You're welcomerubysmama Thank you. I survived and Banjo didn’t end up building things her way. I just couldn’t visualize a mouse maze as a cat room. To all the people who do building for a living....I . You are quite talented! I was able to accomplish this but it took education about some things! I do believe that you could do this too rubysmama. The subfloor was hard but the flooring was really kind of fun. It’s satisfying to see it come together. Painting is the same feeling. It makes such a nice difference! I hope you do get back to enjoying painting. Watching the kitties enjoy the room again is the best feeling of all.
As for narrative, thank you, the cats tell the stories without need of me. It’s just easier to type if you have a thumb. And not one cat signed the room in paint! That’s a new record here.
dustydiamond1 It’s always nice to have you around! Thank you and the kitties thank you! With fresh paint and happy kitties, it’s a nice place to be.
CL56 You are so kind! I’m glad you are here with us to see the room. Catified. It will definitely be catified. The kitties insist. After all, they do own the house. I would like to get some new cat trees but I’d kind of like tree form cat trees. I just don’t relish cleaning the carpeted ones. Utilizing the space up high would be helpful because each cat wants their own house in that room! Fitting it all in will be interesting. I want to make sure all the surfaces are easy to thoroughly clean. There may be adjustments as we go along. BJ would like a real sweet gum ( falling star) tree in there. BJ misses his tree! They had a very close bond. I’ll post photos of the room for you tonight. Thank you! Very glad you like the kitties and the room.
Bring my tree inside!

tarasgirl06 That is so sweet! It makes an old girl feel very good! We do what we can. The desire to keep the kitties safe and happy is strong. It’s a great motivator. “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”, and rebuilds! Lol Sometimes I think we can do more when we are driven by need.
I hear Banjo at the door calling Froggie! Lol I love that sound.
I have moved a house, crate, cage or tote/day bed into the room for every cat! One cat tree, blankets and snuggly places. There are high spots for some, cave like hiding places for others and enough open space for playtime. There is one area for water and food. I haven’t moved the litter boxes yet but I have a covered area for that prepared. The window sills in that room were originally made extra wide as cat window seats so the kitties can perch there. The kitty toys and supplies are all stored inside the tote boxes. The AC is up and working and I have a flea light as a night light. What have I missed? I’m sure there is something! Suggestions welcomed!
I took a nap today. I only had ONE cat on top of me! I found it hard to nap! Lol The kitties stayed in the room all day. Bonjure came for nap time to take advantage of the vacancy. He stretched out full length. On my stomach! That’s okay though. I don’t really need to breathe.
There was some excitement in the room this afternoon. Our old friend, the buzzard came for a visit. I suppose it has a nest here where it grew up. Kodiak wasn’t afraid and chased it around to each window. I guess she remembered sharing her food. BJ seemed to be smiling. The trap I set for BJ caught that buzzard instead of him!
Okay! Here is the introduction of the kitties into their finished room. Time to explore and choose your spot! RELEASE the Catten!
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

Banjo had to try things out. This bed was toooo large.

This bed was toooo small. Lol

Thrasher was in a rush to get past me!

BJ..... studied things from the center spot.

The rubber welcome mats were originally to catch traces of litter but they have turned out to be popular scratching mats.

Dolly is easy. A nice blankie and up off the floor but not so high that an old guy has to make a giant leap.
View attachment 294275
Purry couldn’t decide so he sat down to consider things.

BJ is still studying!

Checking every corner in relation to the location of the food dishes.

Flowers wanted a high spot with some security. Not too closed in feeling.

Muffin wants soft blankets all around.
View attachment 294269
Kodiak wants to be near her buddy, the cat pillow! Thrasher and Mitsy will be in or near the cat tree. Lady is in the window seat behind Thrasher. That has always been her favorite spot.
View attachment 294268
Purry finally went into the large carrier so Banjo took the chair. Smokey and Bonjure like the way the bright stripes show off their fluff.
View attachment 294267
Froggie watched it all from the door.
I’m sure there will be some shifting and changes but for now, all is well at Chez catbird! Now, I wonder if Cally and friends would join the rest? We still have some extra spaces unoccupied!
Have a great night everyone and thank you to everyone for your support as I struggled to make our repairs and take care of the kitties. We are very grateful to you all. Also, great appreciation to N NY cat man for helping me learn. We couldn’t have done it without support.
Too hot to paint upstairs, so I'm working on the mud room in the basement.Painting is the same feeling. It makes such a nice difference! I hope you do get back to enjoying painting.
Wonder who will be the first to "decorate" by hacking up a hairball? As for narrative, thank you, the cats tell the stories without need of me. It’s just easier to type if you have a thumb. And not one cat signed the room in paint! That’s a new record here.

I ask you. Is there ANY feeling better than that, knowing you have just made a comfortable, safe, beautiful environment for those you love (and watching them enjoy it)? What happy, smiling little faces and relaxed, comfortable poses. A gorgeous room for the gorgeous cats of Chez Catbird!rubysmama Thank you. I survived and Banjo didn’t end up building things her way. The room looks wonderful! I shall purchase a house with an extra bedroom just for my cats!Well, I guess we are going to dedicate a post to absent friends. May they be well, safe, content, find their way quickly and return to us! I’ve always liked the quote,” May the wind be always at your back, the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall softly on your fields....”
The cat room is, at long last, finished. It seems like it has taken a year! Lol It actually all began in May. A burned out outlet was the first sign. Day one. LolView attachment 294159
The cat room had been invaded. Painted just months before, our world was about to get very dirty!

I guess the room will be filled with kitty things tomorrow. It’s already filled with happy kitties. Watching them enjoy the space makes all the sore muscles fade away. As our friend @maggiedemi would say, “ contentment. “
Have a great morning everyone!
