What should the energy level be in mama cat? She gets up only to eat, drink and use the litter box. Other then that she lays with the kittens all day

It varies. Some mamas don't leave their kittens hardly at all. If she quits eating or drinking, or you notice a discharge from her, she may have an infection. Then call the vet for an antibiotic,

I agree with di and bob di and bob . Many cats will stay with their kittens most of the time the first 2-3 weeks especially. As stated, if she goes off her food she may not feel well.

Nursing is hard work and most cat moms enjoy resting between nursing sessions. Their instinct is also to stay close to protect their babies.

Both of the brands pictured are excellent. Refrigerate after opening. And yes, 2nd step is for older kittens.
How long should I put formula into their food/water for?

For at least 4 weeks, or until they start eating solid food. Then set some in a shallow dish and see if they will lap it up.
I have to mix formula into their food for 4 weeks???

Are you supplementing them or are they getting all their milk with mama?
Getting milk from the mom. Vet told me to mix a little bit of formula in with wet food to make a paste and so the smell is familiar to them.

My kittens are 3 weeks old now, and i’m curious about how long they have to be in the nesting box for? The nesting box is quite big, it’s one of the large moving boxes from home depot cut about 8 inches high. The kittens don’t try to climb out of it yet but i want to also start getting them litter trained
