Had a long chat with the internist (I know it’s internist = internal medicine specialist but it still looks more like “intern”) He did a physical exam. Nothing remarkable there except the dental disease which we already know about. Now she’s been taken to the back for an ultrasound and a blood draw. Then she’ll come home with me and finally get to eat in about an hour or so. 🤞

Update: repeat ultrasound still shows thickening but bladder stones seen in previous u/s was not seen today. They’ll review the blood work and then call me tomorrow with an endo estimate. 😔 At least we’re moving forward again. Endo will be one to two weeks instead of one to two months like consult. Should be moving much quicker towards answers now.

She’s home again and eating. And I’m lying on an ice pack on the floor. Something tweaked in my low back getting out of my car, not at the consult vet but at my regular vet on a quick cat food errand. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤕😔

Wishing Betty a good lunch/midday meal and you to feel better soon! Hoping test results will be affordable and yield best possible results.

No bladder stones, that’s a bonus! I would say try Tiger Balm for your back, but after my cursed Greenies advice, I’m laying low. Always good to get home. Fingers crossed.

I had a needy Betty when I came home. I didn’t want to risk getting Tiger Balm on her during our intense fuss and cuddle session (which was mostly her brushing and bunting on me while I laid on an ice pack on the floor) Instead I opted for three Advil, ice, and when I could get moving again, I used an Icy Hot roll-on stick all over my back. I must smell Icy Hot-alicious! 😋🙊😹 I got the whole bar to myself at the tap room while I try to process what may be ahead for Betty and me. At this point, I’m not content to have her mostly stabilized on meds. We need answers. We need professional/specialist answers, not gen vet empirical guesses and hypotheses.

Tuned into camera. She’s done with her afternoon portions. I gave her a starter and a bumper before I left and they’re both gone. So she’s only two meals behind this week. Probably more than she can make up this week. But we can probably get that back next week.
🐷👍

Lacking a poof camera. I think that will be my next fluff buy. Or is that a floof buy? 😹😻

May you get those answers, soon, and may they be good, or at least treatable/curable answers.

Good on you, Betty! Keep up the great work!

And a pfloof cam is a MUST. :hearthrob: :lovecat3: :hearthrob:

Honestly, I have a PTZ (pan tilt zoom) that I can mount as a floof cam. But it makes noise when it PTZs. If I travel, it’s the camera I can use to spy on the door or the pet sitter. Though she knows about the cameras. “Par for the course in this profession,” was her response when I told her about them. I can probably set something up short term. I still have a few of those salt and pepper shaker models. But there’s another fixed angle wall mount camera that I use for her Food plate that would be good in that location. New cat = new cameras.

My cameras except one are D-Link. My cloud recording subscription is with them. I’m looking at adding another of these.

D-Link Indoor WiFi Security Camera HD 1080p Two-Way Audio Motion Detection Night Vision (DCS-8300LH-US) (Renewed) https://a.co/d/329gwBO

I mean it just has to watch a floof in a poof. I have other cameras to cover the other areas. That’s a blind spot. A privacy poof. 🥸

Betty gets new nicknames more often than new toys. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

I’m opening a new box of finger cots for her Mirataz wet willies.

The box label says, “ideal for inserting suppositories or applying hemorrhoidal cream.”

And this is how Betty got the unfortunate nickname of “butt stuff.” 🍑😹

Betty got a new rainbow Yeowww! I think she likes it. 😻

Yeowww! stuff is a sure hit with cats.
Elvis woke me up at 5:23 this morning. He was on the bed getting a snootful, kicking, licking and biting his pile of toys including Yeowww! lemon and banana. He really got into it. Usually he does this in the evening while the TV is on. He's never done it at 5:23 a.m.

Artie and Geoffrey love(d) all the Yeow products. They are definitely winners!

Yesterday, Geoffrey vomited on his favorite mousie! I think the catnip smell is still ok, after I hand washed it.

Betty keeps spitting up on a banana. She’s got plenty of places to barf. But she has spit up on the banana twice now. I didn’t know if these were washable. I simply replace barfed on bananas. Pet Food Express has a buy three get one free special with cat toys. A banana is almost always one of those four now. It’s helpful to have a spare banana waiting in the wings. 🍌😻👍

Those Greenies must have cleaned her out real good. I'm still waiting on a post-Greenies poop from Miss Butt Stuff.
:poop: :poop: :poop:

I know she has to build up a backlog (so to speak) and she missed a couple meals (one to the spits and one to the fast.) But my formerly twice a day pooper has had a full day's worth of food since the fast and almost two since her last poop.

🐈🔭🧐

We had poop!
💩👍

I even got out the baggie and gloves and inspected it to compare with Tuesday's poop (the one that was all hair!) There was more poop than hair in this one. This is really the one I should have sent for testing. Oh well. There was still some hair in there so her Pet Naturals From Vermont Hairball chew is likely doing its job (or playing a role.) If I ever suspect it's not, I may switch to one (or a half) Greenie.

It was a well-formed poop of adequate (but not excessive) size. In other words, the s. boulardii did its job.

Hooray for well formed poops! I personally hope you stick w/ the VT hairball chew, as it’s been doing my head in, thinking that maybe the Greenies are just too powerful for Miss Betty.

I just posted on another thread that the difference between medicine and poison is the dose. In Betty's case, she already had a hairball chew in the morning. She didn't need not one more but two more in the evening. It's entirely possible that a single Greenie without the VT hairball chew could be therapeutic as intended. But unless and until Betty proves to me that the VT chew is not working, we won't test that theory.

So stop worrying about it. I gave her too much. That's on me. Not you.

Having emptied herself, she proceeded to work on the next poop with a full 38 gram lunch portion. Her "later" dregs probably don't add up to two grams. I will likely have to sneak her a tiny bumper portion later. She'll make up for Tuesday. 🐷👍
