I was content to give her until dinner before feeding her again. But I stopped in the kitchen to pour myself some water and she bolted up to the kitchen counter and gave me an earful. I sneaked her a tiny 8 gram portion to get us both to six pm without a wailing Betty alarm.

Someone waking in heels on the path outside my office window sounds vaguely enough like the retching sound of a cat. I jumped up and went to the front room and saw Betty calm as could be sitting in the sun in the deck door. She looked up me like, “you needed something?”

False alarm, Betty. Carry on.

Well, while the very thought of heels makes me want to retch, I haven't heard any heels that actually sound like retching. Glad Betty was not the one making that sound! :flail:👠🤮

I SO have done that, it's like having some part of my ears specifically tuned 100 percent of the time for the sound of "trouble".

I stopped everything re; supplements, Poppy was having a bit of constipation. A couple won't be restarted since they really didn't accomplish anything. Looks like he's getting back to normal regarding output, and a wellness check is tomorrow. :redheartpump: :crossfingers::redheartpump:

Heels on the concrete path has nearly the same tone or pitch or whatever the term I’m searching for here.

She can't be feeling all that nauseated anymore. She's grooming now. Grooming is usually a turning the corner behavior for her. I don't know if she'll get the second half of lunch. But I think she'll be ready for dinner.
Praise be! I’ve been pacing, wringing my hands, ruing the day. We all must remember what works well for 1 cat maybe not so much for another. Betty, I am so relieved you’ve turned a corner!

She just polished off her first dinner. 🐷👍

I gave her a Cerenia with tonight’s medicine since I’m fasting her for tomorrow’s specialist visit starting midnight tonight. I wont be able to give her her morning meds. But hopefully the 24 hour Cerenia will be enough to get her through until the first allowed feeding tomorrow. 🤞

Second dinner plated and she only eats half. Uh oh. Betty, you don’t know that you’re being cut off at midnight. (Even though I’ve tried to tell you all week about this appointment.) After just a few minutes in the poof, she emerged to go back to the plate. I think she’ll finish it and come up to the bed to snuggle and smear it on my face.
🍔😽🤦🏼‍♂️

I have an 11:30 alarm set and another for 12:01. I sure hope she’s good for one more quick eating portion tonight. The fast will go a lot easier if it’s only morning and lunch she has to miss.

Gah!

I plated last meal and she wants to cuddle instead of eat. I have her sleeping in my pit and I know I have to wake her soon to give her one last chance to eat before I pick up the plate.

“Last chance for the Gremlin” says my alarm.

Time for a little Betty hacking.

I roll her off me and she heads towards her cloud. Well that didn’t quite work.

I pick up her plate and replate it on another plate while I run the sink again to wash the first plate. Running sink does the trick. She gets up and meets me just outside the kitchen. I set the new plate down and disappear into the bathroom. Cuddle option removed.

And success!

She ate about 20 of the 25 grams i plated. Well, that’s all she gets until sometime tomorrow afternoon now. Final score for today: 142 calories. About a meal behind. No getting around it. Between today and tomorrow, she’s going to lose a little weight this week. 😿

Betty is being so much more polite than Krista was. I know she’s hungry. But she’s not singing or dancing over me yet. She’s been sitting on the floor waiting for me to wake. I don’t need to sleep anymore. But I want to stay in bed as long as she’ll let me. It will be easier than telling her “not now” for the next five hours.

My back is aching from laying in bed for so long. But the longer I can delay getting out of bed, the longer Betty sleeps off her fast. I’m also slightly hungry and slightly nauseated (nerves about this appointment.) Breakfast would probably do me good. But I would feel bad about cooking and eating breakfast in front of a fasting Betty. I had plans to go out to breakfast today. But my stomach isn’t feeling it yet. I really wish this was a morning appointment. Trying to keep Betty peaceful during her fast is really stressing me out. 🤦🏼‍♂️

She’s calmer than I am right now. She’s just sitting in my lap shedding up a storm. We’re just a little over an hour out and she hasn’t pooped yet. I wonder if that’s going to be a problem later (aka poop in the ultrasound if we do one today or poop in the carrier if she gets stressed out like Krista did in her last year.) I’m so much more stressed out about this appointment than she seems to be about her fast.

I get stressed over appointments, too, so I empathize. Good on ya to be empathetic of Betty! and hope all goes well, for you both.

That was the same thing here although for a somewhat different reason.

It was Poppy's housecall vet (to save this 17 year old cat the carrier and a car trip which he hates with a passion), and so for the first time ever I got to hold Poppy (!) during the two blood draws and the urine draw. I didn't know if we'd be able to do these things (--if he would let us) but which I really wanted to have happen, so that was the source of my stress (never mind the results but we'll see.) As you might imagine, he yelled/growled/hissed at us :argh::livid: but recuperated wonderfully quickly after the vet left, with some fresh catnip in hand for his own kitties

Hopefully Betty has as reasonably decent an event today.
