Well my cats wouldn't eat the tapeworm tablets in their food either, so if Drifter ate those, she will probably eat the Drontal. How did you hide it, how much tuna did you use? I probably didn't hide it well enough. Orange, I thought tablets couldn't go down the wrong tube. Can they? Man, I'll go watch some videos and practice.

My cats sleep a lot, probably 14-16 hours. They sleep most of the night and then take a few long naps during the day. You could try keeping Drifter in for one night and see what happens. She could always do her patrolling during the day. Yeah, the coyotes scare me too, I can hear them howling at night.

well, it makes sense that friskies are fattening, since drifter n all other cats think it' a treat.
everything i like is bad for me too.

it's really good to know your cats sleep thru the night.
i guess if drifter does that, she could stay indoors overnight.
she's at least brushed clean nowadays.
as much as i dislike the idea, coyotes roam at night.
one once came up on my porch.
coyotes never move during the day because this is ranch country n everybody shots them on sight.
outside days is the safest for drifter.

mag, what i did with the wormer is i put it between 2 spoons n crushed it
til it was a very fine powder.
she wanted the tuna n the wormer couldn't be seen so she had to eat it all.
i might have a problem with drifter if she moves around at night.
take that fertilizer water that might have killed her.
i had no idea n never thot about it.
no telling what other dangerous things are around.
i can't cat proof this place.
ever.

FINALLY!
drifter hated brushing, but she started putting up with it.
all of a sudden, it's her fav thing.
much more fun than caresses.

this is big because i think brushing is the most important thing you can do with a critter,
or a child for that matter.
i got tons of garden dirt from drifter's coat n it's shiny for the first time.

more than that, it's a great bonding experience.
finally, you can find problems as you inspect the coat n skin.
things you wouldn't notice just passing by.
brushing is far more than just grooming.

Hey, have any of you guys heard of ParaGard Allwormer for cats? It's a liver flavored de-wormer that cats can chew like a treat. I wonder if my cats would really eat it though. It's Praziquantel and Oxibendazole, so it's a little different ingredients than Drontal. It says 1 Tablet treats 11 pound cat. But Demi is 12 pounds. I will have to research Oxibendazole, since I've never heard of it before. Orange, have you heard of it?

I haven't heard of it either. Is it new, or something only sold/authorized overseas? I'd also have to look up Oxibendazole....sounds like an antibiotic (?). For years I just been buying Panacur when I need it and cats and dogs gobble it up with their food, so I really have searched for any alternates.

I have no idea, I just saw it while I was searching online. It might be an Australian product. I'll try to find some reviews. It sure would be nice to have one that comes in a treat, if they will eat it. My cats are terrible about taking stuff in their food, they can even smell/taste lysine powder in their food which most people say is odorless and tasteless.

You were right Orange, it looks like it's only authorized to be sold within Australia, when I put my zip code in, it didn't work. That's a bummer. Hopefully they will get a chewable one here someday. They have them for dogs. But my cats probably wouldn't have eaten it anyways.

THIS CAT DRIVES ME CRAZY.
nonstop loud, irritating meowing, til she gets her way.
never happened before.

i kept thinking of drifter getting eaten so i decided to keep her in overnight.
i decided to sleep in the living room.
i was tired, so i was asleep by 10pm.
12:15am. meow meow meow meow meow til i woke up n let her out.

2:15am she found out which screen window was closest to me n
meow meow meow meow meow, til i got up n let her back in.

8:am meow meow meow meow meow meow til i stumbled out of bed n let her out.

she now knows if she cuts up long n loud enow i'll wake up n play door person.
not good.

Yeah, it takes a while for their sleeping schedule to match up with yours. Too bad she doesn't use the litterbox, if she did then you could just ignore her until she stops meowing.

What did she do for all the hours that she was inside? Did she behave? Did she sleep with you?

as far as i can tell, she got in no trouble.
stayed off my bed too.
i did smell something in the middle of the night.
either she used my rug for a potty or she was passing gas.
still looking.
where would a cat go in the living room?
there was no food around, so no reason for her to climb.

what gets me is that she yowled to get back in.
remember, this is the quietest cat i've met, til now.

you know, from what you guys said,
when the quietest cat in the world turned into
an air raid siren, i'd be thinking heat, except it started
when i kept her in.
actually, i expected her to tell me she wanted out at some point.
screaming to get back in surprised me.

She probably just wanted to be with you. When they are in heat, they do the butt dance, crouch down with butt high in the air with legs dancing under them, roll around on the floor, rub against you and the furniture, and run around yowling and doing this little purring song that sounds like how in Spanish you roll your R's. It's something you would definitely notice.

thanks. that means it's not a heat, just
drifter being a huge pain.

can't find droppings, so i guess she can hold it.
i'm glad she stayed off the bed n counters, but
i doubt the counters would be safe with food on them.
this is not great because i'm a very disorganized cook. food n pots everywhere.
yesterday i had a grilled cheese sandwich on the coffee table.
this is the same cheese she gets as a treat.
she got real interested til i growled at her.

it just started to rain n as i evacuated into the house, so did she.
she does seem to like to be with me. i find that odd in a barn cat.
not sure how much is wanting to be with me n how much is her deciding
that inside is her territory.

I think if she peed anywhere you would be able to see or feel a wet spot. It sounds like when she meowed to go out, she peed outside. She's really smart. Where do you keep the litterbox? Is it where she can see it? My cats still prefer to use the litterbox outside in the garage for some reason, even though there's one in the house too.

i keep her litter box in the bathroom.
she sometimes hangs out in there so she knows it's there.

she can't see it from where we spend most of our time in the living room, but i really don't want it under my nose.

i guess i could lock her in the bath like orange mentioned, but we would hate that.
i may have to in freezing weather.
it seems to me that she might just go anywhere to avoid the cold.

by the way, i don't think drifter is a barn cat anymore.
she spends too much time sleeping while cuddled up to my legs.
