I found out that this beautiful big male that came by our house yesterday, is a stray and has been in our neighbourhood for 2 weeks. He's healthy and strong, very social and cuddly, the kids carry him around and he purrs...
His paws are GIANT, he has medium long fur, and a very big, fluffy tail. He's a tabby, and the kids in the neighbourhood calls him Cuddles. Nobody owns him as far as we know, but he must have had a home previously. He's too good looking to have been away for too long, and he's certainly not a ferral.
Our first meeting with him was when he scratched my dd.... She bled! She was picking flowers and he grabbed her hand. I felt a bit intimidated by him, but then discovered what a cuddle bug he is.
That's when I felt I wanted to keep him if we couldn't find his home. Dd likes him too! Then he started biting me, and I decided we would definitely not keep him.
Then I calmed down, realizing that he never hurt me, and was in fact quite playful. He didn't bite hard at all....
Now I have made up my mind, that I'd love to keep him. But dh feels like he's been pushed to his limits by the two kittens we have, and really truly does not want us to get another one.
He feels bad saying no, cause he knows I want it, but he really doesn't want to keep him. He's wondering; how many more, before I'll be satisfied? I really don't know the answer to that..... I love my dh so much, he's a wonderful person, husband and father,
and I really want to show respect for him, so I'll have to find Cuddles another home.
I feel so sad though, he's such a wonderful cat and I'd love to have him stay....
He's that wonderful lapcat I've been longing for. I guess I'm gonna have to let my kittens grow up and see what becomes of them. One might like to cuddle, and one might not, the way it seems now. I love them regardless, but I'l love to have a lapcat. Maybe that's why I feel so drawn to "Cuddles", he's huge and loves to cuddle, so he's better able to satisfy my own selfish need for cuddling. Bad me!!
Anyway, just needed to vent.
I'll have to take some action now, to see if he's a missing cat somewhere. It just seems like he's been dropped off or something, since he just hangs around here all of a sudden, not taking off again. I'll have to help him.
