Pine pellets are sold for horses and are quite cheap. You get a great big 40-50 pound bag for around $6. So, yeah, that could last one cat quite a long time. Sadly, I'm allergic to the pine and my cats don't like pellets, otherwise it's a good choice. How can a litter be $6 for 4-5 months?

Not necessarily, if you don't change it needlessly. A cat pees and pops the same amount no matter how many boxes there are . So if you had 2, you'd only have to top up each with half as much litter, etc.if I had two boxes my expenses would be more.
What kind of litterbox do you use with pine pellet?I don't want to know what I spend, It may give me a heart attack. I have recently got the cats (most of them anyway) switched over to pine pellets so the litter cost is down. Food, on the other hand is expensive. Until the Covid lockdown, I was gradually changing them all over to a raw diet, but since I can't get to the local meat market they are back to canned and some dry. I do not like to use dry but am at this time.
