He loves this enclosed cave-bed so much. He is 10 now and spends most of the day in it, then wakes up in the afternoon and has zoomies/playtime for a while.

How we miss this sweet angel. That spot on the bed has been a favorite of many a relaxed cat, including our precious Suha.

He's really fine! *We have a lot of cat beds. Some in the closets, some in the garage. One in the master bedroom that occasionally gets occupied.*
I have a one-bedroom apartment with limited space. His two main beds are on the couch (I refer to it as Willy's couch
because I live alone and use the living room chair most of the time).He has other sleeping spots in the rotation... under my piano, under the dining room table on one of the cushioned chairs, etc.
He seems to follow a rotation, he will sleep in one spot for several days, then move to the next for several days.
That's so funny that you should say that! Elvis used to sleep with me and he had a favorite chair (his *throne*) in the master bedroom but now I often have to do a full-house search to find him. He does that, too -- a day or two in one place, then in another. After I find him, he switches. He (and everyone else when they joined us) seemed to prefer my rooms and not the common rooms in the front of the house after our roomies joined us, but now that he's an "only cat" and he MAY know our roomies are *hopefully!* leaving "by the end of July" according to one of them, he's branched out and enjoying the living room, dining room and front hallway more. I've never lived with a cat before Willy, but my parents have a cat and have said the same thing. Their cat changes sleeping spots every few days.
I was wondering if that is an instinctual cat thing, like if it goes back to some kind of survival instinct? I could see how changing where you sleep in the wild could make you safer, being less predictable. I don't know, that's just a theory I had.

! Definitely. Like mother cats of all species move their babies when any threat is perceived, adult cats may do this for the same reason for their own safety if they perceive anything isn't "quite right" or just out of habit. Cats are normally such creatures of pattern.

Is that a frog toy in the background? I am always looking for unusual animal toys (meaning not typical ones like just mice). Willy loves toy mice but he also likes variety.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Willy is starting to get bored of toys more quickly.Very observant,
The one exception is his original mouse "buddy" that never left his side for 8 years.
Willy's favorite toy mouse has seen better days...
We've discussed Cat Dancers before, which are some of his current favorites, but he destroys them very, very fast. It's hard to let him win and chomp down on the cardboard ends, while also not allowing him to completely destroy the toy in one play session. They are really cheap so cost is no problem, but I'm trying to figure out the best method of conducting play sessions (like which toys to engage him with, and for how long) as he ages to continue to give him the most exercise, without throwing my money away.
