My other thread on raising kids in a technological age just made me think of a great idea for a new thread!

Have any of you ever seen that show on HGTV called "Hey Remember" where they show neat things from the past? It's a fun show and it always brings back memories for me.

So let's all post some things we remember.............

I'll go first.

I remember 8 track tape players and the big bulky tapes. I had one of the BeeGees!

I remember watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" every Sunday night at 7:00pm while we all sat in the living room and folded the laundry for the week.

I remember the silver Christmas trees that had a light-wheel that you sat in front of the tree that would turn and make the tree look like it was changing colors.

having to go home for dinner when the street lights came on

sitting on the roof watching the fireworks at Disneyland at night

Hamburger Fry's in the park with the 4-H Club and three legged sack races.

candy cigarettes

I also remember 20c Lucky Dip bags that my local milkbar used to sell. It was packed full of lollies and chocolates and a small toy or two.

A simple one most of us remember, when security guards were not required to patrol the halls of our schools. It's so unfortunate that this fits in this category.

Yeah I remember that too.

I also remember when we stayed outside all day and went all over the neighborhood. We walked to the 7-Eleven store to exchange coke bottles for money so that we could buy candy and didn't come inside until my dad whistled for us. (his whistle could be heard all over the neighborhood)

Unfortunately, kids aren't safe enough to be turned loose in their neighborhoods nowadays.

I remember when everyone wore blue eyeshadow!

I remember when my grandma got her microwave oven--the first time I'd ever saw one! Over 21 years ago.
Makes me feel old.

Anyone remember going to a soft drink place (can't remember the name
) where you picked up a container, and filled it with your choice of bottles of all sorts of different soft drink flavors - Cola, Root Beer, Ginger Ale, Cream Soda, Orange, Sasparilla, Grape, everything...and when you were done with the bottles you brought them back empty for credit on your next choices?

records The first time my son saw a record he asked, "Is that a huge CD?" Talk about a generation gap.
