Aww that's terrible about Chuck Berry.  He was such a talented man.  He will be missed.

~ Very sad about Chuck Berry. And BB King . We also just lost Al Jarreau , ( only 76 ) and Little Richard is not well . But Tony Bennett is going strong ! Paul Anka and Frankie Avalon are in great shape also. ( You do remember those guys ... don't you ? )

I need to just post a friendly reminder that this site is family-friendly and is used in schools for educational purposes, so keep that in mind while you are posting. :)

I shall endeavor to do better, and I, as well, wasn't aware that we are used in schools!  HOW COOL IS THAT!

Huh...I missed Al Jareau's passing.  That just really hurts.  I bought "All Fly Home" years and years ago, and fell in love.  I'll have to order some of his music again, I don't have any currently.  I loved that he used his voice like a musical instrument.  SIGH...so many gone now.  I am feeling my age today.

I heard that it was just one class though - in a business school - called, "what not to do with your Life."

;)
Now just one darn second.  Are you implying we should have devoted ourselves to some other animal than cats?
Okay, well giraffes wouldn't be so bad but I'd still manage to slip a few cats in somehow.

I did sign a petition to save some endangered giraffes, come to think of it.  Perhaps a rocernocerous  (my elder son's word when he was small)?

Sigh, I may be 43 years young but right now I'm feeling very old.

Went to the doctor today.  Again.  The same arm has tendonitis in a third spot.  So right now I hurt from where the neck and shoulder join to about midway down the lower arm.

At least he was able to figure out why all this is happening.  Sigh.

Have you considered a cortisone shot?

He did that today because the shoulder is OWWW, compared to the owww of the elbow.  It didn't help much.  He said he couldn't inject it directly in because doing so could cause the tendon to rupture, so he put it close and there's a bit of dulling but not much.

Oh well.  It hurts and I'm not really looking forward to work tomorrow.  But it could be worse.  Last year the same arm hurt so bad that Pitocin induced labor prior to the epidural was a walk in the park.  That 1-10 pain scale where 10 is the worst pain you've ever had got reset last year because that was by far the worst pain I ever experienced.  I'm not hurting like that now so I'm just grumpy.

That's too bad because cortisone should work immediately to alleviate all the pain.
I've never had a lot of luck with steroids.  Last year I was put on prednisone three times, I didn't even bother to finish the third course.  Someone (non-medical) told me that of course it didn't work, it works on inflammation pain, but what I had was inflammation in the nerves.

I have had cortisone shots=sometimes it takes a few days to weeks to see noticeable results...remember it takes basic tissue to rebuild itself in 7 to 10 days. Hoping you feel results soon. I didn't have luck with them. I had 2 of them in my elbow but they said it was only a 1 time shot or 2 at the most..something about risk of damaging tendons if more than that BUT that was in 2006. So here it is 11 years later-maybe it has changed.

ICE and PT exercises are the only things that help my elbow- and rest. I tend to overuse it.

Hoping you get some relief soon. Sore elbows STINK!

I have had many cortisone shots, between my shoulder and my knee, I have had 6 of them... no more for me..

It takes about 2-3 days before you feel any relief. It also feels worse, because they are injecting fluid into an already tight space. If you are having it done in your shoulder, it is best to go to a specialist who can inject it directly into the area, (muscle, tendon) with ultrasonic guidance. Yes, and ultrasound; otherwise, you can never be certain where the injection will end up.

Cortisone injections are variable as to how long they work. Some people have relief, lasting a very long time; others not much relief and not lasting for very long.

I think the rule of thumb is no more than 4 injection for any area. Cortisone does weaken and break down ligaments, and joints. That is why it is limited.

I guess in a severe case, then some physicians will agree to constant injections, but that is not the norm.

I also get a 'Cortisone Flair" when I have an injection:  blushing, heart racing, feeling antsy....

Exactly what I was told by my doctor.  I'm on my feet a lot for work as well as being a runner for many, many years and do a lot of speed walking now. I developed tarsal tunnel syndrome, similar to carpal tunnel syndrome but in the tibial nerve of the foot/ankle.  My doctor gave me a cortisone injection and it helped immensely.  He also told me some different strategies to help it which I now recognize, anything to avoid surgery.

I am such an idiot!!!

So I woke up this morning feeling like a million bucks.  Pain?  What shoulder pain?  I saw your posts and realized the cortisone had kicked in.

When I have a passenger in the car I put my purse in the seat directly behind me.  I needed my cell phone and reached behind me for my purse.  I've done that so many times I barely have to turn to wrap my arm behind me to snag it.

Well, when I did that today, my shoulder immediately reminded me why I went to the doctor yesterday.  So now I'm hurting again.
