I have always heard that bunnies naturally like having a partner. Any chance you will find a buddy for Peter?
He has one. Her cat Link is his BFF.I have always heard that bunnies naturally like having a partner. Any chance you will find a buddy for Peter?
We have considered it. Thing is, Peter is extremely picky about his space and where things go. He also like to ration his treats out for the day and takes a few bites every now and then. He also is very particular about where he potties. Our concern is that another bunny would cause more stress for Peter by messing up his routines and space.I have always heard that bunnies naturally like having a partner. I gave Peter some grapes the other day and Link stole one. He licked it and looked at Peter like "you are crazy, that's gross"He has one. Her cat Link is his BFF.
Agree 100% to all of this.I know that Easter celebration will be a little more sedate this year. I hope that everyone has a good Easter (at their own homes).
But I would be remiss if I didn't do a little seasonal reminder that rabbits don't belong in Easter baskets. Most of the rabbits gifted for Easter won't live a year, it's a hard cold fact. They also can't just be released when someone gets bored of them, domestic rabbits don't have the survival skills to make it in the wild. Our Peter Rabbit got lucky and now lives a nice life with us, but not all rabbits do.
Don't get a rabbit unless you are willing to commit 10+ years to their care, expensive vet bill's (exotic animal), and proper space to exercise. If you do want a rabbit for your child's Easter basket I recommend adopting an adult from your local rescue *AFTER* doing your research to make sure you are ready for a bunny.

I've never seen a tick around my area, although parts of California do get ticks. He gets revolution every month to protect against fleas and ear mites.Does California have ticks, and if so, does Peter get tick treatments?
We have coyotes, foxes and hawks/falcons here. We've only ever had a fox kill a rabbit in our yard and that was before we kept them locked up at night (before we knew foxes would come into a fully fenced yard).Hi there, I'm new here and just LOVED this thread! Peter is one lucky boy (and such a pretty cream color too!) Do you know approximately how old he is? Because he looks young in the face.
He has quite the little set-up there, I'll continue following this thread in the hopes Peter accepts a playmate so he isn't alone outside at night. Do you have many predators in California? I live in an area where I cannot keep them outside because of the cold weather, although other people do. Since adopting my current two rabbits, they have not been outside for reasons I'll end up posting in my own thread.
I have been keeping house rabbits for fourteen years now and every single one of them has co-habited with cats, they pair up quite nicely!
