It goes by the weight of the cat?
How much does your cat weigh?
Yes, it's from Thriving Pets. Dusty weighs 6.4 lbs. She eats Fancy Feast, but her appetite hasn't been too good lately. She also likes Evo dry. I may give her some raw chicken livers this week, as I know that is something she really likes.

After everything I've read, I'm not too keen on the low protein foods either. Since cats natural diet is high in protein, it just seems odd that the best food for kidney cats is the worst food for healthy cats.

Since Dusty's appetite hasn't been too good, and since I see her eating grass frequently (no vomiting though), would the pepcid be a good idea? Does that require a prescription? How much/what brand do you use?

Coco weighed the same as your cat does when she started taking the binder.
1/8 teaspoon two times a day will be fine for yur cat.
I get Famotidine 10 mg/ml suspension from the vet.
The dosage is 0.25 ml by mouth one to two times a day as needed.
You do not need a prescription for it.
Thriving Pets has it and Ian is very helpful.

Just calcitriol twice a week, .25 ml. I've tried several prescription foods, but she won't eat any of them. She's an in/out cat who mostly sleeps on the patio furniture, except at night when she snuggles in bed with us. The vet hasn't suggested sub q fluids yet. But this is why I'm asking about phosphorus binders and antiacid.

What were her blood test results?
The fluids are easy to give if you have to give them to your cat.
My Coco is picky on the food also.
She will not touch wet K/D or Purina N/F.
She does like Purina N/F dry though and sometimes Royal Canin Wet.

BUN 61
Creatinine 2.9
RBC 5.5
HGB 8.4
HCT 24

I am also giving her some B complex vitamins for her anemia. The test results were from Feb. but I think I need to take her in again in a couple of weeks.

Her BUN is a bit up but her creatnine is fine! She must be in the very early stages.

I hope it is early and that she has several more years. She is the sweetest kitty I've ever seen. We love her like a baby!

I know how you feel. My little Missy has become so precious to me and I know she will not be with me much longer and the pain is about more than I can bear.

My little Missy keeps looking so bad and growling at me when I touch her. I've had her to the vet 3 times - each time expecting it was the last but each time she perked up.

I am trying to take it a day at a time but it is killing me. She is SO DEAR and so loving especially to her boys.

What treatments are you doing?
Coco gets 100 cc of fluids every other day.
She also gets Azodyl once a day but we are going to give it twice a day now.
Coco gets Baytril once a day because her bladder infections come back but she might have a infection again.
I only feed her Renal Food.
She has blood presure medicine she takes every day.
She takes Aluminum Hydroxide twice a day.
She has Pepcid A/C also and Miralax.
Do you have your cats numbers?
I hope she feels better.

Missy's last numbers (a month ago) were BUN 60 Creatnine 4.5 Phos normal, no protein in her blood. BUT she has to be syringe fed as she stopped eating long ago and she gets Purina NF or Iams Renal diet. She hides under a chair most of the time and is very weak.

Are you giving her a binder and Pepcid A/C?
The Pepcid A/C is so they will not feel sick.
It helps them eat.
There are times when Coco will not eat at all and I have to force her.
Are you feeding wet or dry.
If I give Coco wet she will not eat at all.
She gets Purina N/F dry and Royal Canin LP wet.
The k/d and purina n/f wet she will not touch no matter what.
I hope yourcat eats soon.

I hope you know how sweet and kind you are! Missy just refuses to eat anything and that is why i syringe her NF or Iams renal or even KD wet. I mix it with clinicare instead of water and suck it up into syringes and syringe her. She does not need a binder yet as her phosphorus is normal, but she DOES get a pepcid AC each day. She LOVES her fluids - as long as they are warm - not too hot and NOT cold and just lies across my legs - even when I take the needle out

IF I can find the money I want to take her in for another blood test this month and see if her numbers are worse.
