Cat Eyes Water While Eating

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me. I have been noticing that my cat’s eyes water only when eating wet food. It doesn’t happen when eating dry food. Is that bad? What should I do?

Hi! Does the watering happen when the cat is actually eating, or does it happen sometime later on, after the cat has had wet food?

Where is his food bowl/plate - is it in front of a fan or vent?

Could you try elevating the food bowl, placing it on several stacked books or a small box?

His plate for wet food is right next to his bowl for dry food. They are both on the floor. But the watery eyes only happen when he eats the wet food. There aren’t any vents next to it.

He also tends to eat it faster than the dry food.

Try putting the wet food up a little higher, and also, something in here might help, particularly the section for Gulpers/Fast Eaters;

This always happened to my sweet Lola when she would eat her favorite wet food. She couldn't have it regularly because of a health condition, but a few times a year I indulged her.
I had always thought they were tears of joy

Does he do this thing with every wet food or with a specific food only?

Happening to my 12 months old cat as well

Not all the times

But I think it's some sort of joy as well

His eyes water also when I cuddle him or rub his ears, he loves that
