My poor cat had to go for an abdominal ultrasound today so that means they had to shave his belly. What can I do to make sure hes comfortable while the hair grows back

Well, I don't think you have to do anything in particular for his shaved belly.
Chances are that he won't even notice it, in two to three months the hair will be fully grown back.
All my cats had several abdominal and chest ultrasound scans, let alone the surgeries for spaying them, and they never bothered at all about their bellies, nor had I to take care of it.
Hopefully your vet said it was nothing to worry about ;)

Jamie has had several US on his stomach and chest and I did absolutely nothing about caring for the shaved area as it was fine. He never seemed to care either. Are you concerned because the skin which was shaved is abraded by having been shaved too closely? If not, I would not worry about it.

It just seemed like A LOT because our girl had the same procedure done but waaay less was shaved. We got the all clear on tge scan, he has diaherra and we tried meds, id, xrats, so they think it for sure is allergies and now we are doing a trial of hills z/d.

I should probably also mentioned he had a sore in his mouth about a month ago that cleared up so the doctor is just being extra cautious.

Please keep in mind that any effects from the new diet could be visible in at least 6 weeks, if not more.
Have you tried with home cooked food?
When my cat had a similar issue, we tried a few weeks of just boiled hack, and it seemed it worked fine, though in the same period I was giving her some Saccharomyces Boulardii in powder mixed with her food.

Artie had a couple of ultrasounds. It was weird to see a shaved belly, but I did not do anything special for it. I think he noticed it, because he was always grooming the area.

Geoffrey is scheduled for an ultrasound, next Thursday. I dread them shaving him, for a couple fo reasons. He is very emotionally sensitive. I think he will read out, internally with the clippers. I am going to ask them to sedate him. The other reason, is, personal: I love his belly fur!! He allows me to pet his belly---so full of longer, softer fur... He is always showing me his belly. I love his belly.

Jellybean is doing great, thanks everyone for the support! They put him on Hill's Prescription z/d, I asked our vet about a raw diet but the ultrasound specialist and our vet want to try this first. We are defin.waiting the 6-8 weeks, he did go to the ER vet once last week because his diaherra got bad and so they gave us an anti-parasitic just in case it was something that didn't show up on the original stool test. His stool has gotten firmer but it's still not where I'd like it to be plus it's pretty dark so in addition to the new diet, our vet gave him a steroid shot and he's acting like a spoilt teenager which is in line with him being 1.5 years old. I just have to figure out how to entertain him in the meantime.
