    The 'Flop & Roll'

My kitty, Malachy flops at my feet & rolls almost every chance he gets ...he is also beginning to do this with my husband now too.  Just wondering if this is sign of affection ...it would seem so.  Do your cats do this?

    soft claws sizing/question

Long story but I need to keep Soft Claws on my cat - I chose medium size for him as he is about 12 # last I knew.  All the pics I see of cats wearing these, you can actually see them on the cat.  I cannot see the tips on my cat ...do I need the larger size?  They seem to fit.  He has lost 2 tips...

restraint? hard time applying soft claws

Help! I need to get these on & keep them on!  I took Malachy to a groomer to have them applied the first time & figured I could keep them up after that (on Friday - today is Sunday) - he was soooo bad, she had me help as she could not do it alone.  Two out 10 have already come off already.  He...

    odd behavior- climbing the walls

My cat Malachy has recently been exhibiting a very odd behavior lately ...he sits and watches the walls, meows & claws at them, as if trying to climb or attack something. He gets pretty agitated at times ...and it's becoming a nuisance  as well as a concern.  He is very excited by little insects...

moving - new home AND dog

I got Malachy in April ...my husband & I were separated & I needed a companion. It looks like we have worked our differences out  & have decided to merge our homes again. We have a dog at the house (I am currently in an apartment). I have the ability to take Malachy at any time & begin...

    Litterbox Love?

I wonder if this 'odd' behavior is common or just weird ...my 2 year old kitty sometimes just sits in his litter box ...or lays down in it ...sometimes he appears to be playing in it.  It' not like all the time but often enough where it seems odd.  I usually scoop twice a day, his fascination...

    questioning 'grain free'

I know 'grain free' is the catch phrase & I DO understand why; but it seems a lot of the grain free foods are just using other carbs such as potatoes, sweet potatoes & peas ...these are not any more nutritious for our cats are they?  Aren't these just non grain carbs which cats don't need anyway...

catnip & 'reaction' of the funny/weird kind

A friend gave me a fresh sprig of catnip - Malcahy has not really reacted to catnip toys from the store (other than to play 'normally' with them) ...I'm sure the nip in those is age old with no potency left ..but my oh my, the fresh!  The tiniest piece - which he eats I will add - causes the...

    should hairballs be expected?

I've had Malachy for about 3 & 1/2 months ...he's a wonderful kitty for the most part.  He's kinda long haired - I groom/brush him 3 or 4 times a week.  He threw up his 'first' hairball after being with me for maybe 2 weeks ( and he threw it up in the litter box ...good kitty!) I assume...

    thinking of getting another

Like so many before me ...one cat often leads to another.  From what I've been reading, adding a second cat is usually   a good thing. I just haven't made up my mind for sure ...there is a cat at a local shelter that I have my eye on. They are over run with cats (the norm I guess) and are...

what got into my cat this morning!?

I've had Malachy for about 11/12 weeks now ...we have bonded very well ... but I guess his personality is still emerging ...most mornings he wakes me up(very early) by clawing at the covers, cooing & head rubbing ...he will not stop until I feed him - so I do & go back to bed. He leaves me alone...

    my hair drives kitty crazy

I have long silver/grey hair ...Malachy is always finding ways to attack it.  I usually try to keep it pulled back, removing the temptation as much as possible. When he's in my lap, I see him become fixated on it ...he's eyes get so big and he's ready to pounce even if there is just a tiny wisp...

Nutro Natural Choice @ Big Lots

Hey - if you like this food - or would buy it if it was local & reasonable ...check out your local Big Lots.  I wish I had found it sooner - but was able to pick up 12 cans of pate for $0.50 ea. !  Big Lots is hit or miss & it will probably never be found there again.  Expiration dates are for...

    by Nature wet

I haven't seen mention of this food on site here ...not sure I heard mention of it by Dr. Pierson either - it sounds good - reviews are good.  I found it on Pet Food Direct and will run about $1.12 per 5.5 oz can on autoship ( including the cost of shipping) - this is the info on the Turkey &...

    oh boy ...confused on ash

I'm gonna work on transitioning my cat's diet to mostly if not all wet - but I am confused on ash content ...I think understand what it is & why it's important to consider but I don't understand what a 'safe' or 'healthy' level is ...most of the wet foods list 2.5 or less ...which I guess is...

Buying a cat vs rescuing a cat

I know a lot of people think to buy a cat - instead of going to the shelter for a rescue cat - is a shame.  My cat did come from a shelter & he is great. And I would always look there. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a cat; there are certain P-Bs that appeal to me.  I look at it this way...

feeling guilty about leaving cat alone for several days at a time

I'm a fairly new cat owner - I have had them before but it's been many years now -  and I'm  also newly living alone (I left our dog behind at my hubby's as we are now separated)  ...I got a cat because I love animals, have always had a pet of some type (was usually a dog) & wanted a little...

    most common breeds in US?

Since I'm fairly new here & not eligible to post in the breeders/show board yet, I though I would ask here.  What are the most common 'registered' breeds in the US?  I find myself very intrigued by certain breeds & perhaps in the future might want to seek one out. But then I read that this breed...
