    Afraid of me

Update on today: Thanks for all the input. In the course of today because I was sharing here I REALLY SAW how this fear is affecting her multiple times a day, when she feels she has to get out of my way. Also noticed that it is mainly an issue in the bedroom where the vet-capture occurred...

    Afraid of me

Yes, and the usual advice, give it a couple of days and call back if she doesn’t improve. She did get better. Just think she had a really rough time.

    Afraid of me

She comes to me. Just runs if I move to her…. Or sometimes if I look in her direction.

    Afraid of me

Makes sense! any ideas on building trust without the food reward system available?

To change cat food or not? Is it even necessary?

You have just have a sturdy cat 🙃 Our youngster doesn’t throw up either… yet!

    Afraid of me

she has no problem coming to me. It’s only if I go towards where she’s at. And I think thats as stuck a fear response as the carrier. Like you say the carrier fear is likely permanent. But I can’t deal with the fear of me being permanent too! Right now I think the minor downside for her...

    Afraid of me

Visit was about 6 weeks ago. what I don’t understand about the carrier advice is how having the carrier in the house will make her less afraid of ME or TREATS. We have limited space, I could have it permanently in a corner for the years to come, but how does that stop her running away from me...

    Afraid of me

Thanks, yes sounds similar to the window thing. I’ll start a new treat container and keep some in my pocket for when she comes to me And it just happened again. it is making me sad. And I just don’t think she’ll get over it by herself. Her hangout at that window is right next to my side of...

To change cat food or not? Is it even necessary?

Eating a lot of something doesn’t cause an allergy if you look at the ingredient list on any cat food there are dozens. Even different flavors in one brand may have ingredients that differ or are in different proportions than in the primary “flavor”. I’m not denying allergies are real but...

    Afraid of me

Thanks all the carrier training thoughts but I’m literally so far from the carrier thing! and yes Suki definitely had a bad reaction to the shot. Next rabies is 3yrs out, and I’ve decided no more annuals for her in the meantime, and might have vet come out in 3y for rabies shot Since COVID...

    Afraid of me

My 18 mo old is scared of me since I trapped her in cat box for her first annual vet appt She got out first time and I was under stress from my spouse to not cancel the visit After escaping the box the first time cat was stressed and suspicious and sat where I couldn’t get her so I lured her...

    Panic attack in bereaved cat

she didn’t run in. She just came in normally, and the panting didn’t start right away. She cried a bit, I called her onto the bed, the huffing started and built up to the “hyperventilating” - she didn’t come in panting. I don’t even know if she was outside - she came upstairs quite normally, but...

    Panic attack in bereaved cat

STORY FIRST (I seem to need to tell 💔) QUESTION BELOW. Tragedy struck Monday when one of my pair of bonded tuxedos was predated. (Pippa and Suki: Pippa is gone) see photo attached for Pipa looking at camera, next to Suki with their friend Iris in the background. Evidence at scene: quick...

    Kitten carrier training

Update: I put a 2nd kibble bowl in the carrier (and a different flavor than the perpetual feeder). This has been interesting to other cats so she quickly followed suit eating in there. She is also toy motivated, so I decided it’s a good place to store toys too. the other day I got her a v cute...

    Kitten carrier training

She’s a foster about 4-5mo old. Hates cat carrier. Want to turn this around. Highly food motivated so today decided to put wet food in carrier and her with it. She had a full on panic attack meltdown in the carrier and couldn’t even think about food. Just escape. For about 1/2h. Felt having...

My 4.5 mo old wet food

    Male cat peeing everywhere

My cat used to pee in her own beds, even beds she loved. (she's not allowed a cat bed anymore - plenty of soft options, not just beds) She did have a urinary thing long ago - vet speculated that peeing in litter tray was painful, so she was using other container shaped things to see if they...

Advice on Cat Introductions - Feeling a Bit Lost

I hear the concern from @calicosrspecial about him feeling trapped or like pray in a crate. That's a real thing. Maybe it can be mitigated by; a) cloth over crate to cover top and 3 sides (so hes not 'vulnerable' from all directions), - ie throw a blanket over it, except one side. and b)...

Female cat suddenly fearful of male kitten

Some vets may time it based on weight rather than age. (Age as a proxy for size I guess)

    Male cat peeing everywhere

Try a Felaway mister? also, not much help, but oxyclean works well for cat pee on things you can launder - and is cheap Medical issues ruled out? If so, Inter-cat relations top of my suspect list.
