Update on his hair growth! The photos I've attached are of his summer coat which is shorter than during December/January but still much fluffier than in his kitten photos.
I was curious if anyone knew of cat toys that could be shredded and safely consumed.
Our 7 month old kitten isn't destructive per say. But he does have a knack for tearing apart all his toys and trying to eat them. So we can only let him play supervised. He is just in his teenage whack-o age...
Thank you for the tips! These are great and I'm definitely going to show my husband. Also thanks for the bathing tip. Right now we've been wiping him with waterless cat shampoo. We just don't want to bath him a million times and are half hoping this will pass when he gets a little older and then...
TL;DR:
How do I get the kitten to leave the older cat alone when he's trying to use the bathroom?
Do you have a litter box that helps deter each other from playing with one another?
________
We had 3 litter boxes.
2 hooded and 1 open.
Now we just have 2 hooded.
________
The open top cheap...
They also did say we were doing it right with the way we're introducing the new cat and actually think all his behaviors towards the new cat are very good. Except for not eating. So we're still taking it soooo slow.
So here's a funny picture of my poor drugged kitty with cream on his eyes...
Exacccctlllyyy what I anticipated. haha. All his blood work is great. There are no obstructions. He was given fluids and something to fill his stomach and sent home with digestive ease wet can food and a prescription of royal canin calm which he used to be on.....
So poor guy I could hear...
I ended up taking him to the vet because he stopped eating again. He never threw up what he ate for breakfast but I could tell he was still not feeling well....
He is a big boy. He is 18 pounds. He does have a harder time with his weight. He's like between ideal and over ideal. He has a low hanging belly but still has hips and a curve inward from above. He's not round. So he's probably a 16/17lb cat???
He did eat this morning and still hasn't been sick...
Good day!
What I want to know is if I should take my 2 year old cat to the vet, causing more stress, or wait it out a little longer.
So here's the situation.
I'm going to try and be concise......ha.
We got a new kitten on Friday. We've kept him in the bathroom and covered the bottom of the...
Brought him home and so these can measure his fluffiness. It's summer and he's 5 1/2 months old at this point.
I'll post more as he gets older!
(I apologize for the booty pic. It just shows his tail fluff the best.)
Right?!
I'll have to ask, I know they know the mom and the brother is a little bit fuzzier than he is. They said when they first came in, they were just giant orange puff balls.
I am potentially adopting a little orange tabby and I had my heart set on a medium hair kitty. The kind where the tail is really fluffy and the body smooth or not incredibly long hair on the body like you'd see with a maine coon or a persian.
- But this kitty has me stumped. His tail is very...
Also reviving this thread! I am potentially adopting a little orange tabby and I had my heart set on a medium hair kitty. The kind where the tail is really fluffy and the body smooth or bot incredibly incredibly long like a Maine coon or Persian.

OH!!! That makes so much sense! I would not be surprised if that was it!! Good catch. And Thank you for the reminder about the wet food! I completely forgot wet food.
Thank you both for you help!.....
There may be something to that perfume thing and the hormonal thing! I mean it would explain why he has good weeks and then a bad week.... I do wonder if there isn't something to that.
Yes, he's a very sweet cat besides these fluke moments.
