Hi everyone,
I have a 10 month kitten who is relatively small in size. She is just under 3kg despite being almost fully grown and a good weight for her size.
She goes outdoors but doesn’t venture far however I would like her to wear a collar so others are aware she has a home.
We purchased a...
Hi, this is completely irrelevant to your question but I noticed in the second and third picture that the fur around Zeus’ eyes and mouth is more of a yellow colour compared to the white like his paws are. This is indicative of jaundice and I’d highly recommend taking your cat to the vet to get...
Hi, I noticed my cat had the same thing so I kept an eye on it for 10 days and it mostly stayed the same. It looks almost exactly like on your cat with a bump on the lower lip central. I took her to the vets today for her spay checkup and mentioned the bump and the vet said she thinks it’s where...
My kitten is almost 6 months old and was advertised as a “semi-long hair”. At a few months old her hair was a lot shorter and I was sure she was a domestic shorthair but as she’s got a bit older it has seemed to thicken and get a bit more fluffy on her belly. Her face had a very defined triangle...
I have tried to check underneath and can’t see anything stuck. She’s jumping fine, playing, when I tried to check it and squeeze it slightly she didn’t seem to be in pain and seems normal so far besides the huge size of her paw which is very obvious.
Hi all,
My kitten is 5 months old and today I noticed that one of her front paws is significantly larger than the other, probably swollen. She was in the garden for a short while earlier but I live in England so it’s unlikely to be from a poisonous insect sting and there aren’t many bees about...
That’s great and doesn’t sound as extensive as ringworm luckily! Thanks for the update, I always like to hear the vet diagnosis. I hope your cat’s hair grows back soon 😊
Yes ringworm is zoonotic so can spread to humans but is not easily treated with fungal creams like Canesten and Lamisil, however it takes much longer to get rid of in cats, usually about 6 weeks+ of a combination of treatments depending on the severity. Cats have a better immune system than...
One of the possible side effects of microchipping is hair loss and another is migration, however I’m not sure if migration would CAUSE hair loss at the site it has moved to. These are both uncommon reactions to microchipping so is less likely to be the reason for the hair loss but hopefully the...
It’s great you got an appointment made ASAP as if it is ringworm it can spread to other body parts quickly and cause hair loss. I recently cured a kitten with ringworm and didn’t treat the house except daily vacuuming which we did anyway. Try and limit her movement to different rooms. I hope...
A cat tent sounds like a great idea for the summer @John Perram.
What length lead did u purchase @fionasmom ? A lead that is of medium length means she will mostly just be able to remain in the garden and I will only let her out while I am in the kitchen so I can be aware of where she is.
Hi all,
After my kitten is neutered at 6 months old I want to let her explore outdoors. She’s currently an indoor cat who spends some time in the garden and is very keen to get outside. I don’t want her to be let loose outside because I’m afraid she may not return as we have many strays that are...
I would say take her to the vet to get checked with a Wood’s lamp for ringworm. My kitty had ringworm and started to lose hair in the exact same areas and the skin turned grey/black and flaky like scabs. Definitely keep her away from the other kitty until diagnosed.
I should also mention that steroids actually worsen ringworm as they weaken the skin’s defences and allows the spores to travel deeper, causing it to spread to several body parts quickly. You were given ear drops containing a steroid which hopefully shouldn’t have affected the ringworm but I...
I currently have a short haired kitten with ringworm. She began scratching a lot behind and inside her ears 2-3 weeks after getting her and then on her face until she caused trauma around her eye. We took her to the vet and they prescribed a steroid ointment for the eye lesion, unknowing it was...
