My 6 month old kitten suddenly developed a case of the runs on Tuesday the 18th. Leaving a trail type diarrhea and leaving puddles while sleeping. I made a vet appointment for that afternoon. Juan escaped before I got him into the carrier and vanished for parts unknown but I took the stool...
I fed Juan Science Diet because the vet gave me a sample. I've only fed the prescription diet stuff (with a prescription of course) and never used the regular.
Okay, Juan's poo-farts have been resolved. Science Diet Kitten was messing him up.
Now if I can get him to wash every time-- but he's getting better at it.
Oh boy, now he has the wet farts while he's sleeping! :barfgreen: He apparently got tired of me waking him up and wiping his butt for him with a wet paper towel that he's washing himself. He's not acting like a sick cat but I'll call the vet tomorrow when they open (it's 9pm/2100 where I am):sigh:
Juan was still semi-nursing at three months, until we caught his littermates and packed them along with their mother to a new owner. She was still cleaning him up so he probably thinks that it's the big cats' job! Hopefully neutering will give him a clue if the buttering doesn't reinforce it...
My four-month-old soon-to-be-neutered kitten isn't very good at cleaning himself. The adult cats will grab him and wash his butt for him. I tried dabbing near his rectum with butter as described in this this thread for the first time today. He was very thorough and hopefully he'll learn this...
My 16 week old kitten, Juan, has something sticky and black on the bridge of his nose. It's not blood or old mucus, it looks like he got into something grimy. I used a cotton ball with tepid water- squeezed out, not dripping! It came back with blackish brownish grayish stain like old grease...
Not this dog! She's lazy, afraid of livestock and children and will only bark if a stranger's leaving the property. Being afraid of livestock isn't a bad thing when the neighbors have donkeys guarding their cattle. Dogs are all coyotes to these donkeys.
My farming relatives all had collies...
Here's Tori with her favorite treat-- and cat Charlie came over to see what she had. She'd let him take it if he wanted it, those cats walk all over her.
Thanks, abyeb! I've accidentally quicked Tori's claws before so I was nervous and she doesn't like having her paws handled. She got a piece of frozen bread for the trouble I caused her.:bluepaw:
They're nine weeks old now. I saw Tweety kick one of the bigger ones away from her nipples. She still nurses the smaller ones. All five are less skittish. They just trot away if the humans get too close rather than bolt. The one that tolerated being picked up and held is having none of it...
I have a ten-year-old rough collie. I just trimmed the hair off her feet after being lazy and saw that her nails were longer than I thought! I do small trims every couple weeks but am going to bump up to once or twice a week to get the quicks to recede. Some of her nails are black, some white...
I'm a little iffy on doing that, yet. Tweety's pretty protective right now.One of them (turns out there's FIVE) will actually let me pick him up and hold him. Two of the others are curious and will sneak behind me, then take off when they see me look at them.
The remaining two are easily...
She brought them here! One little white one with beige/cream on its ears and a little calico. The calico's skittish but the white one tolerated being petted. They must've gotten food somewhere other than here before...
I have to keep our cats in because she won't tolerate their presence at all.
About the only socialization she had before last year was "humans=food", she screams like she's being killed if she accidentally wanders in the house. She just started hanging around regularly in the past few months. If I find the kittens I'll set up a little house in one of our sheds to see...
