My 16 week old kitten, Juan, has something sticky and black on the bridge of his nose. It's not blood or old mucus, it looks like he got into something grimy. I used a cotton ball with tepid water- squeezed out, not dripping! It came back with blackish brownish grayish stain like old grease or soil.

His skin looks fine underneath, no sign of injury or infection. He's just not real good at cleaning his face! Charlie the social groomer cat tried to wash his nose for him but Juan wasn't having it.

Is there anything other than water that's safe to use on a cat's face? I don't want to make him sick.

A tiny bit of dawn soap, --look for the Original, that they use to remove oil from oil spill animal victims, and then rinse well :).
