I add a 5.5 ounce can of water to Mookie's food. It's just enough water to get the gravy and bits from the can to her bowl. Also, the wet food lump sticks out of the water so that she can get some right off the bat without having to drink any water. However, the water is enough so that it...
She'll be going to the next brand/type in a few days once this runs out. I bought a few different brands at once. If she stops drinking, is that a good or bad sign?
This was the previous brand. But there have been probably 5 or so different brands/types. Only the brand in the original post makes her drink water afterwards. I'm still unclear from all the responses in this thread if that is a good or bad sign or unknown.

Not sure if the new cat food has a lot of added salt. Is that something printed on the nutrition label?
Her appetite and energy are old cat-ish. Same. Lays around. Is sweet for a few hours. Naps a bunch.
I wouldn't say it's excessive. It's that it went from no water drinking to some...
Mookie (GF's cat) moved in in January, so there has been a lot of trial and error the past 3-4 months. One thing has been different wet canned cat food brands/sizes (and yes, I know it's bad to change it up and it's better to stick with one). Generally speaking, I do not catch her drinking...
As a test, I temporarily started mixing water in Mookie's wet food to keep it from drying out. As a secondary benefit, her water intake increased! I also noticed her energy improved.
However, I noticed that when I stopped mixing water in her food, she did not go back to drinking from her water...
Mookie moved into my apartment in January. Due to new surroundings for the first time in 8 years, she wasn't eating much initially (1.3 to 3 oz per day). Now that she's been here a while, she eats more. For example, before leaving for work she had 2.6 ounces of Sheba wet food. When I got home...
Thanks for the info. Regarding your question on brands, yes, this is across various brands. She definitely prefers some brands to others, but she consistently dislikes fish flavors and likes beef flavor. And chicken/turkey are in the middle.
She currently is eating Merrick Perfect Bistro...
Mookie eats only wet food. She seems to like beef-flavor more than all other flavors. And she dislikes fish flavors the most. Should I feed her only beef going forward? Will she have nutritional deficiencies if I do so?
Thanks, folks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't depriving Mookie of sleep! The poor cat keeps dozing off on the couch and waking up after 5 minutes due to my movement, outside noises, or the TV.
When I'm home all day, such as on weekends, I notice that Mookie does not sleep much if at all while we're hanging out with her. That means she only sleeps when we do, which is around 7-9 hours a night. I'm fairly sure that on work days she sleeps twice that (and I've read 16ish is normal for...
