    Doesn't Understand Drinking?

Thank you everyone! A fountain sounds like it's worth trying out. Hopefully she will be like some of the others and just get curious enough to drink the water eventually :P

    Doesn't Understand Drinking?

Hello everyone, My kitty, named 'Lucky', is a cat that was dumped/abandoned at a gas station in September. As I had lost my senior cat earlier in the year, I figured it was a sign that it was time for another kitty. I've had her a while now, and aside from being sensitive to sounds, she has...

    Opening Door To 2 Strays

Thank you everyone. Right now, Lucky is inside and her claws are not an issue...Kitty, the other cat I was going to break in often claws at my furniture endlessly. That's really the only issue. I've bought a cover but it doesn't seem to always help..so that's why I was inquiring. I am...

    Opening Door To 2 Strays

Hi everyone, I thought I’d reach out for some possible advice on a stray cat situation (haha) I’ve found myself in. In May of 2020, my “in house cat” passed away at age 17 from cancer. For the first time since early childhood, I did not have any pets living in house. There are two cats...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

A timed feeder just might work! She is less than a year old, so that could be why there is no weight gain...and she has quite a bit of energy too (especially when I try to sleep). She still covers her food though.. which is quite interesting. She will "dig" at the floor and whatever she can...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Yeah not sure if she was really ever on the street. I guess her past is an unknown. She insists on eating wet food..so I have to "prepare" each of her meals. I have her eating 3 cans of food per day. She "snacks" on dry food sometimes in between meals. The odd thing is she hasn't gained any...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Well, good news - she was looked at by a mobile vet last week. She is not microchipped but appears healthy, and not pregnant or anything like that!

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Thanks. Hopefully not! The vet was booked today... So this will go into next week but I am sure I will figure something out.

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Well, with the paranoid curbside thing, it's so much harder to get the service than it used to be. There is one vet in the area that allows you to come in and ask questions, and that's the vet I called for the second opinion. The vet said she was likely getting sick because of the food I...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Well, they basically said the vet would be idiots if they didn't check and she can't imagine the vet not checking. Which I can agree to that.... they knew enough to give her her vaccinations, and a de-wormer... I don't know why they wouldn't know to check for a chip... but apparently the vet...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

I did look at the papers and there is one paper that says female, so I am happy with that. I called them and they did not make note of looking for a chip but I'm just going to have to assume they did. Called another vet yesterday to see about taking her in and they indicated it wasn't necessary.

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

I sure hope they did! And I did, unfortunately, explain everything to the vet. Multiple people in fact. The problem is at least around here, you have to drive up, wait outside, they come and get the pet, then take it in to the doctor who looks, etc.. just a lot of different people involved...

    Need Advice on Dumped Kitty

Hi everyone, On Saturday, I found a cat that had been dumped at a local gas station. Someone was going to drive her to a local area and release her but I did not want that, so I took her home. She is a very affectionate kitty and it took her about 24 hours to take over my house. I highly...

    Dementia?

She has definitely made a complete turnaround...she's back to her old self!!

    Dementia?

This is definitely a different kind of twitch - she does it a lot for example when she's just laying or sitting for example. Never really figured it out but always assumed it might have something to do with the kidney function (even though that is said to be stable) Fleabusters is going to...

    Dementia?

She seems to be doing better. She went to the vet on Saturday and they gave her another shot. She is doing things she's not done in a while - begging for food, moving around a bit more, laying next to the vents, etc...so it's been a nice change. I am getting Fleabusters delivered today! I...

    Dementia?

I've been looking for perhaps another food for kidney disease. It seems Hill's is the easiest to find but I don't want to buy something that is either going to make her worse or be a mistake. I will look into the Gerber food. She is still staying to a certain area of my kitchen, but she is...

    Dementia?

Hi there. Her behavior has changed a bit since going to the vet Wednesday morning. She is now limiting herself (98% at least) to a small 6x6 area of the house in the kitchen that has a shelf she's been laying on. I have even moved an extra food and water bowl over there, which has got her to...

    Dementia?

Here's an update. She was diagnosed with anemia after blood work (explains her eating cat litter). She also had fleas, for the first time ever. The vet said the fleas could even be contributing to the anemia. She was given a couple shots, one which was vitamin K. She was given a pill that's...

    Dementia?

Well, here are more updates... She is going to the bathroom (definitely established that). I have some telling me I'm taking her too much and getting recommended to follow up more by others, lol. I agree the eating litter seems to be the biggest concern to me but luckily I do already have...
