I live in Virginia so yes it is definitely that time of year. The weather is never steady, we had 80 degree days in February and just the other day it was 16 degrees below the average for this this month but it's 92 right now! I have never thought of feline herpes. I have not called my vet back...
I would say yes. I had a cat once who was not, I assumed it would be fine since he never got my other cat pregnant. I assumed she couldn't have kitten since she had A LOT of issues & never went into heat, so I thought. Apparently she just wasn't loud & desperate acting like a lot of female cats...
Can you post a photo? My cat would get these things called granulomas on her upper lip. My vet had me use metal bowls only (no plastic), then try playing with her diet because it could likely be a good reaction.

My cat eats Natural Balance L.I.D. (Limited ingredient diet). She has food allergies which cause her to get granulomas on her upper lip. The food is kind of expensive at $30 for 10lbs, but it does last a while, unless you have a lot of cats, of course.
