    raw feeding FIV+ kitties

Hello~~ I have two FIV+ sons (4 yr 3 mo.), who are also brothers, and I am very interested in feeding them raw. Honestly, if they didn’t have FIV, I would’ve taken the plunge by now. However, they do and I’m struggling to find any positive or neutral articles about raw feeding FIV+ cats. I made...

Does anyone have experience or information regarding adoption of an FIV+ cat to live with cats who do not have the disease? I'm concerned about risking my current cats' health but have never had an FIV+ cat. Thank you!

We have a 14 year old cat that has many issues including IBS, hyper thyroid, myocarditis, high blood pressure, and FIV+. She recently has been diagnosed with rodent ulcer and had laser surgery to treat it. A biopsy was done and it came back negative. It was healing but recently flared back up...

Good idea? Bad idea? FIV + kitten

I am considering adopting an older kitten. My problem is I already have a very high energy cat and I don't know if bringing in a cat that has fiv is a good idea. My instinct says bad idea but I would like some second opinions. Indy is my current cat and even though she is an adult she is high...

    Cat has FIV+

Hey, just seeking advice on one of our cats, don’t know if I’m being dramatic or not. He is about 4 years old, indoor cat & has FIV+. He’s always been skinny so it’s nothing new but I’m not sure if he’s become skinnier? He is eating the same amount as usual, plays the same amount & has no...

From feral cat to domesticated cat - Progress

Like every other living being, it is unknown how long anyone will live. Cats with FIV can and do live long, happy, basically healthy lives with good care, safety, and love. Wishing that for adorable Ruff! :redheartpump: :climbcat: :redheartpump:

    FeLV Vaccine for Indoor Cats?

No, @StefanZ , that is NOT the case. You're thinking of/confusing this with the FIV vaccine......that one resulted in the cat showing positive for FIV. And, fortunately, that doesn't happen any more, because the FIV vax has been discontinued. .

Stray cat, considering bringing her inside.

@ImaRobot , I took in a feral/stray last November and after his vet visit he too was diagnosed FIV+. My vet said she also has FIV+ cats in her home as well as FIV- cats and she hasn't had any issues. The biggest concern with housing FIV+ cats and FIV- cats together is deep cat bites...

    Stray kitten FIV?

...3 week old kitten in a week. He said to just wait and see to make sure he doesn’t have any infections before introducing. He slightly mentioned FIV but didn’t seem too concerned. My family member told me that I cannot introduce them until the kitten gets tested so he can’t spread it. I...

    FIV

Surprisingly, my older cat Jet has FIV. He came to me as a stray a few years ago, and I don't think I had him tested, but when he got blood work done two weeks ago, the vet told me that one of the things it checked for was FIV, and he is positive. He has been doing fine other than having a...

    Male cat developed skin disease

...but there are lots of other symptoms as well. It's unlikely that you would only see skin lesions and not see any other signs that the cat has FIV. Male cats are more likely to get FIV from deep bites from other infected tom cats, rather than from mating with infected female cats. There are...
