The dead and dying roundworms pass into the stool after administration of deworming medication such as pyrantel (Nemex®, Strongid®) or fenbendazole (Panacur®). This treatment will not kill the immature forms of the worm or the migrating larvae, so at least two or three treatments are needed...
I think they'll be getting both? I know they got Panacur from the shelter today, and they'll be getting something else from the pharmacy, presumably the metronidazole. It's all going to be liquid meds, so hopefully they'll take it just fine.
I don’t want to sell false hope. But this has come across my inbox this morning. Maybe you run it past your vet and see what s/he thinks.
Fenbendazole plus Ivermectin, the new anti-parasitic cancer protocol
It may not even be appropriate for SCC. But couldn’t hurt to have that discussion.
Please see a vet if possible. Fenbendazole or Droncit are excellent dewormers. He is also a growing kitten, so they eat a lot and sometimes have a big belly after eating but do not have parasites or worms.
Please keep us posted!
...kittens are likely too young for tapeworms. The worms the kittens had in the thread I referred to were roundworms. These are treated with fenbendazole or pyrantel pamoate.
Good she seems better and is feeding, but treatment is still best.
Also, parasites and worms are not the same...
Hello all
Can someone tell me what the dosage of Fenbendazole would be for a 20 pound cat?
It's liquid Fenbendazole, 10% suspension / 100 mg
Thank you!
Thank you for this. I'll run it past my vet. Today I suggested if we should start some pedialyte but he gave me a look and said we shouldn't give too many remedies.
So for now I'm fully relying on you helpful people. I have few questions.
*Is it ok to give boiled chicken like the vet suggested...
...a bleach-based cleaner on surfaces the kittens may have come into contact with. Deworming is recommended for all kittens starting at 4 weeks (or as young as two weeks), even if they don't have diarrhea. A broad dewormer like fenbendazole to cover worms and toltrazuril for coccidia would be ideal.
...symptomatic giardia infection. He's been having diarrhea off and on for several months now. Tests confirmed it's giardia. Vet prescribed fenbendazole for all cats in the house. Seems that didn't work, but I did also switch their dry food so the return of diarrhea could be from that. I'm gonna...
...due to the cost.
She started listing all of the medications that he would need. In the interest of saving money, I told her that I had fenbendazole and toltrazuril. She asked how many mg/ml they were and came up with an at-home plan (shown below). She also gave me the "consider his quality...
They said they had some dewormers, though they need to get in touch with the vet first and get their ok. Not sure if the vet will need to see the cat first or not, legislation is kinda strict and crazy.
Thankfully the cats seem ok, kittens are playful and putting on weight etc. I wouldn't even...
I hope Pur is doing well!
Just an update. My momma cat finished her 14 days of fenbendazole. She still snorts when eating but not panting or breathing heavy. When I rub her belly her purring used to be very loud but now sounds typical. We'll do another fecal in a week or so.
